  1. It can happen Speak to the supplier otherwise you're snookered. Set of fedimas that are on eBay right now, pal bought them new, they weren't round, 4x4tyresonline I think it was, they took them back used, ebayed them, sold them and u assume the guy that bought them has them back on eBay again Remoulds are not always perfect but that's why new casing off road tyres are ££££
  2. I use mine for sub 5mph off road only At this speed the glare does not affect your vision detrimentally I could fit some kind of a shield/visor but then I would lose the light down low to Illuminate stuff to my immediate right and left and also handy to cast some light around the winch and immediate areas With the lights on it has the effect of daytime, but they must be off once you pick up speed as you simply cannot see the road properly
  3. How very dare you! My QT guards are taking some serious abuse
  4. Just pick abother box up locally and bang it in? Many available for peanuts on eBay and it's not easy to completely destroy these so most are in full order I recently bought two for £25 each and they were spot on internally despite being listed as parts or not working
  5. But yes another vote for home rebuild on LT230, I've done a few, most bearings were drifted, a couple pulled, I don't even have a press!
  6. Ashcroft sell sleeved casings off the shelf for £75 iirc Not worth faffing around at that price!
  7. IndeedAlas, if I got to needing/wanting one I would simply prepare another LT230 for the task, they are damned cheap to get hold of. As someone who does predominantly operate at the higher end of the low ratios I would much prefer underdrive to low range gearset.
  8. Bummer reading this thread after just putting much time and effort into rebuilding a 28 tooth LT230
  9. Land down at quest4x4 is the same, better hope your tyres dig enough to keep moving, great fun though being semi out on control, the throttle is the second steering wheel!
  10. Much wanting to get down to Landcraft, it looks great
  11. Seeing as all the pinions are the same, I guess the more teeth on the crown the weaker it will be, hands down.
  12. Yeah just looked on Ashcroft site, 1.0-4.75 is slightly higher than 1.4-3.54 whereas 1.2-4.1 is near as damnit same That must be it Plus Gives me headroom for larger tyres by easily changing diff ratios I guess
  13. Grrr now I'm doubting myself thinking I got my maths wrong. It's going back a month or so but I distinctly remember thinking "oh" for some reason and then needing a chance of tack, to look for a 1.2 instead!
  14. Thanks for that Bowie, but the question is, why did I change my mind and end up looking for 1.2 and 4.1, instead of 1.0 and 4.75?! I had the option! Hmmmm...
  15. The principle was to retain stock disco gearing by the way.
  16. Only 33" dude I'm pretty sure cos I was originally looking for a 1.003 box and then did some gear ratio checking and found out that 4.1 gears and 1.2 box was the one for me Was a little while ago but that's how it panned out, for some reason
  17. I did a bit of maths and even with a 1.003 box, 4.75 diffs would not give me a high enough motorway gear Obviously if this is not a consideration for you, 4.75 is the first port of call then choose your high range accordingly.
  18. They don't call you LowRanger for nothing! Selectable super low range seems like the ideal way to go, would love one.
  19. Nobody likes to feel uneasy about these things though, and still having the engine is a problem cos often you sell stuff to make space!
  20. Cheers I don't currently posess a 1-piece vehicle BUT it's getting better every day!
  21. Regards 4 door 90 Stumbled across this the other day Now I don't profess to know what it is but maybe some of you more ejookatid chaps could work it out
  22. Weird one It's not a short nose diff for some reason is it? Supposed to be a good 10mm clear Is the bar bent?
