  1. Hi All I've been away from landrovers for a few years and now have a 2005 TDV6 SE Auto which is about 25% of the price of a Defender, Auto, Elbow room = Happy days My question is when my suspension adjusts itself I get a very loud pussst air noise from rear of vehicle, followed by pump running for a few mins. The car appears to be air tight and does not drop when left standing. It also goes up and down as it should with no faults indicated. The noise does not bother me, in fact I quite like it due to the fact it surprises cyclists etc What is it and will it do any harm?? Best Mark
  2. Could anyone tell me where to buy a new indicator lens for a ex mod 110 they look similar to the NAS type bit have a threaded section which simply screws to the vehicle. Regards Mark
  3. Hi Guys, I know overheating and thermostats have been done to death but I would value a second opinion. I have a 110 with a 200 tdi retro fitted (defender type). I drove 30 odd miles in the very hot weather 29 ish on the motorway fairly fast eg 75ish. The temp guage was creeping up into the 3/4 area, normally sits just over half way. But what concerned me was the heat coming through the gearbox gaitor, it felt like someone was underneath with a bloody hot hairdryer! The whole cab was getting hotter and hotter and the metal bits inbeetween the rubber clad areas were very hot to touch. I know it is all a bit difficult to give an opinion on this over the web but how hot is hot.??? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi Guys went to look my landy and the key kept turning and then the lock cylinder came out with the key. Is it just a clip which holds the lock in place or do I need to and goi and buy more bits. Cheers Mark
  5. Hi Guys A quick question, I took my truck out today upon return I noticed diesel dripping from the rear at an alarming rate. When you look at the tank from behind it appears to be coming from both sides along the guard/bracket. Is there a common fault i should look for or are the tanks known for failure? The tank appears sound and has never had any damp patches or the like nor has it been clouted or abused(recently) Thanks in advance, Regards Mark
  6. Went there yesterday and got the axel I needed A real find the guy seems to have 50 odd vehicles breaking and more bits than you could dream of. Well recommended.

  9. Had flange caps off this morning and shafts are not turning in the flanges so guess it's deeper trouble.is this really a get it on a proper ramp job or a drive way job?
  10. out with the socket set then, thanks for your thoughts guys. I'll let you know the results as and when. Regards Mark
  11. Hi Dan Good idea I'll try it tommorrow Cheers Mark
  12. Hi I established it was front failure as mot man is a mate so I had the chance to pop the ol girl on the ramp as it failed about 5 mins after the mot, I blamed him for wiggling the wheels and the like during the test
  13. Hi Guys Took the old 110 for its MOT this morning and on the way back the damn thing lost it's drive, it makes a few juddering noises and tries to move with no real sucess. It made no sudden bangs or anything just refused to go as I was pulling out of a junction. Diff lock gives me forward and reverse again. I have established that rear drive is working and the front has failed. Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received and will I damage it further by usung in this "two wheel drive mode". winch last week, wheel bearing advice at mot and now this, I love landrovers Cheers Chaps Mark
  14. Thanks Steve I did get it moving with lots of lube, enough to release the cable and release clutch so I could get the drum clear. The motor turned in a very lethargic manner with no real power and then it stopped again. I suspect you are right and it will have rust and crud inside which needs a proper servive so I will strip it tommorrow. Thanks for advice. Regards Mark
  15. It's normally drier and warmer outside my 110 regardless of weather, god bless her.
  16. Hi Guys I have a X9 on the front of my 110 which gets only gets used once in a while, yesterday was one of those occasions. I plugged the lead in and the solenoid box made some encouaraging clicks but no motor movement at all. I think I saw a small puff of smoke from somewhere behind motor so I stopped trying. The hook is tight against the recovery eye in storage position making it impossible to free the clutch and manauly spool out. Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved. regards Mark
  17. I can think of one petrol obsessed V8 lover who might consider it
  18. Hi Guys I have aquired a 110 and would be interested to find out where it has served is there a method in doing so? cheers mark
  19. I have checked and tightened earths and I am now seeing 13.5v accross the battery is this ok? I thought it should be more like 14-14.5 thanks in advance chaps. One other small issue(could be quite big actually) my water pump developed a leak and I overheated last month. Water pump changed and refitted but I am concered all is not well as temp guage sits between half and three quaters and the coolant hoses feel very firm and bloody hot after a run of say 10 miles. I cant see ant water in oil or oil in water am I being paranoid.
  20. Car jump starts with no problems, I will have a go with the jump leads isolating earth faults if and when it stops raining. I will update when I know more. Cheers guys and hope all have a good weekend.
  21. Guys, my head now hurts. A quick update, I have a ex mod 110 with a 200tdi with charging issues. I have replaced the alternator and battery and still no charge! I have a voltmeter function on my radio display which suggests the voltage output is almost nothing. The symptoms started on the way to Billing when it was reading 15 - 16 volts on the way there and on the way back almpst nowt and the battery ran flat. Sorry to ask for help but I am pulling my hair out! Cheers
