  1. any hatchback should do i have used all sorts over the years on safari rear doors
  2. having had a couple of them and thinking of the the things that went wrong with ours i would say a d2 isn't a very fixable on the side of the road machine , i'd be more inclined to spend money on a really good going over of mechanicals before you set off , things like a set of hoses would be a good idea to carry, maybe a spare air bag and ride height sensor and a nanocom perhaps after that make sure you have breakdown cover
  3. whats the idea with this system i assume it's to stop uninsured drivers buying a taxed vehicle and just driving it ? or are there other reasons

  5. go back a decade or two michelin xl/xcl 9.00x16 we used to run them on land rovers a bit hairy on the road in the wet but looking at the tyre picture you posted it would be worse
  6. i use 8.5x16 compomotive rims they were landrover supplied for some vehicles and are load rated for 110 i, mine have stuck some serious enough offroading and looking a bit scruffy now still run straight and true .i have seen a few sets go for sensible money on ebay i think they are atrr 1685
  7. join the series one club , lots of advice there as well as pointers as to where and who to get bits from
  8. you should try living here in the ROI anything registered before the 1/1/1980 is 50ish euro a year to tax and test free. anything 30yrs old after 1/1/1980 is 50ish to tax but requires a current road test cert , bear in mind that a eg 1997 passenger discovery is 1080 euro a year to tax and a v8 version 1.5+k this means there are some 'entertaining' vehicles about, most are blatent ringers but some are done properly as here the vehicle ID is the chassis doesn't matter what's on or under it
  9. a friend of mine fitted one to his 90 with a home made adapter plate and r380 with redesigned shaft i'll see can i get him to post as he is a wealth of info on the conversion
  10. you have to find something with an inbuilt belt system too
  11. i'd give them a bell at tomcat motorsport i have found them very helpful in the past with such issues , if your car has radius arms at the rear is it a complete chassis or like some of them two fronts welded together
  12. having been rightly peed off in the past when someone has pulled an auction i'm bidding on i say stick to your guns and let the auction run
  13. i don't know what happened to the rest of my post but i'll try again 2/300 disco tdi springs when fitted to a similar model 90 give about 2" lift and a firm ride so the reverse would give you a lower ride height as far as brown /brown grey /grey there in the 1st link ANR4350 831.12 149.89 2676.61 2 BROWN DISCO FRONT LH VIN MA116461 ON ANR4351 822.82 149.89 2676.61 2 GREY DISCO FRONT RH VIN MA116461 ON

  15. just a thought give je a ring and see what they spec on the cooling front for their big v8 defender conversions
  16. glad to hear you fared out ok
  17. how about a couple of series 3 wing/heater vents with some ducting and a couple of good fans, with the right setup you could pull hot air straight out of the engine bay , i have a series of holes in the edge of the bonnet on mine and all they seem to do is direct steam at the windscreen lol
  18. i can't see your build thread but are you running an oil cooler on that engine
  19. make sure it's the right transfer box that's been fitted pumas are 1.2 box rather than 1.4 as per most other defenders
  20. well i thought that one was done well designa chassis ????? maybe ,although i think possibly the 'k' should be on the other end of the number plate .
  21. without sounding like a prophet of doom i bet the chassis won't be straight after that smack all that force on one corner !!! i have seen a few defenders at this point which have been involved in altercations at far slower speeds than your incident they all had twisted chassis at the end of the day.
