  1. Daan, seems you have proven anything is possible if you have imagination and don't give up. Question is what did you do for a steering column/box combo?
  2. It is something people in the US would look at where a LT77 and R380 need to be imported from the UK and parts for either a Dodge or Chevy NV4500 are readily available. Of course if you are putting it into a LR as I am and wanted to either use a LT230 or a kit to keep your series part time transfer case there would be no point in going in that direction but different strokes for different folks I guess.
  3. Not with a 4JB1 TD but with a 4BD1 T and the last statement in slightly off Jeep sold a 2.8L CRD Liberty in 2005 and 2006-I have one. http://www.isuzudieselswapper.com/ http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.p...23929#post23929
  4. Is the adapter plate something you engineered or did you purchase it? Bellhousing is Isuzu or LR, if LR V8, Tdi? Clutch is a LR?
  5. All, I have read thru lots of forums, contacted conversion companies, transmission companies etc. Does ANYONE have an actual setup running with an Isuzu 2.8L 4JB1 TD 5 speed? I have heard use a LT77, no a R380 is better, no use a NV4500 etc. Please post details ie bellhousing, kit source, gearbox, clutch etc. This would undoubtedly help lots of people. Thank you for your time.
  6. I know this thread is a little aged but here is some info I found on the Cummins 4BT: cummins 4bt cpl 858 specs NON intercooled dry weight 700lbs hp 105 tq 265 gvw 16000lbs (4x2) length w/o mech fan 26" height 32" width 27" 16cm turbo the rear sump oil pan starts 10" from rear, and roughly 15" from the front with a height (or hangs down) 5"
  7. Gaza, I was considering a NV4500 but the issue is the use of the LT230 with that. What about a stock R380 with the LT230 then of course the issue would be the bellhousing/adapter and what about highway? I suspect the highway RPM in a 4BT is lower than the stock 4.0 gas engine.
  8. Thanks Les, it is somthing I need to take care of. The truck is now in storage(winter in NE US) since it will not fit in my garages but in the spring/summer/fall rain I don't want the water on the inside of the bulkhead, bulkhead rails etc. Thanks for the input.
  9. Thanks to both posts for the input, I will follow the tips and see what I end up with.
  10. I checked local sources ie Rovers North but cannot find what I am looking for. The gaskets around my 66 IIa windshields are dry and leaky, I need to replace/repair them. Any sources for such a kit? Other way to do this?
  11. Well either way I will get the transfer case with the rolling chassis and if worst comes to worst I will sell/trade it as the vehicle only has 77K on it so it "should" be in good shape. Thanks to all you guys for the input.
  12. Thanks Mark, it is a petrol V8 and it is something I may be buying to harvest the axles, steering, suspension etc for a conversion project and was hoping to be able to use the transfer case with a R380.
  13. Question is first from what I have been able to find the transfer case on a 1995 Discovery I in the US is a LT230 is that correct? If so is the transfer case the same for a standard as it is for an automatic? I suspect there is some differences but would like some input from someone with some more knowledge in this area.
  14. Gaza, I did check out the link http://www.roverhybrids.com and the D90 project was quite nice-thanks for the lead.
  15. Gaza, I am in the US and am aware of the site for 4BT's but most of these are geared towards Chevy, Ford etc chassis so I was hoping someone on this forum would. So if a 6BT would fit you are mostly likely correct a 4 should not be too much of a problem assuming correct planning in advance-which is what I am doing. As for a tranny and transfer case I am open to suggestions for sure on that as well.
