Ok. This is beginning to hack me off. One reason I bought this expensive head unit was because it had SD slot and I stupidly assumed that meant I could play all my iTunes music.. Anyway here's some pics of what I've tried. As you can see, it appears the SD card is already in FAT32 format.

The wireless mouse that came with my Mac doesn't have separate left and right buttons if that makes sense. I will have a looksee for this disk utility and try to see what format the SD card is. But will it be able to detect that seeing as the SD card isn't in the Mac directly but in an adapter?

Right. Got myself armed with an SD card and an adapter in order to insert into my Mac. So inserted them into the Mac, opened up my iTunes and dragged a couple of songs from my iTunes library to the SD card. I noticed that the music files were in an m4a format. Now that in itself means nothing to me. However. When I inserted my SD card into my head unit, the head unit couldn't even "see" the 2 music files. Am I right in thinking this is because they are in m4a format? And if so, is it possible to convert theses files into a format that my head unit will be able to read?

Ummm to download files to the SD card wouldn't I need a reader/writer as opposed to just a reader? Surely if I bought a reader I would only be able to transfer files from my SD card to my Mac, rather than the other way about? Remember I'm looking to transfer music files from my iTunes account onto the SD card so I can insert the SD card into my head unit..

It is indeed iTunes I use. Bugger. What's the bet it doesn't let me copy the music... wow that's a real bummer it wiping all your wife's files!

The head unit in my Touran (RNS510) has a slot for an SD card meaning I can download all my MP3 music to its memory. However my iMac doesn't have an SD slot. I am aware that you can get SD-USB adapters. Will I be able to download the music from my iMac to an SD card via one of these adapters? I know sometimes adapters can totally horlicks sound/video quality....

Thanks guys. Yes most of the engines seem good, but as my luck usually dictates, it only appears to be the BXE/BLS engine codes that were vulnerable to this particular failure. The BLS is exactly the same as the BXE but with the addition of the dreaded DPF.

Dad just bought a tidy VW Touran. However I have since found out that the BXE code engine that is fitted in the Tourans has a nasty habit of lunching itself and throwing a rod through block. This seems to happen regardless of mileage and service history. Totally random. I won't go into the whole why, what and where of it because if you Google BXE engine failure it's all over internet. Anyway to cut a long story short I contacted a very well known VAG tuner Darkside Developments. They told me that all the evidence pointed towards a dodgy batch of conrod bolts. They also said that the only guaranteed preventative measure was to replace the big end bearings and fit ARP bolts. They said that after this they hadn't witnessed a single failure. So my question is can I do the rod bearings on this motor without removing engine? I really don't want the hassle of removing the engine.

Pffff! Nearly spat my coffee out there! ? Back to your query though. I haven't used it myself but I have a friend that has used this stuff on the bed of his pickup. He swears by it. He got it professionally applied but it has been hard wearing and looks like a good finish. I don't think it would have any adverse affects on the bodywork. Might be a bugger to get off if you change your mind.

Well no because previously it was said that only long established members were given some flexibility. And even then it was at A&M discretion. What I'm suggesting is that even relatively new members can post OT threads so long as it's not obscene drivel etc..

What pete said. I actually pm'd the OP as I was embarrassed that his thread went south so badly. If the powers that be decide not to have a dedicated OT section that is fine. I accept that. However as a caveat maybe allow OT threads in International Section so long as OT is mentioned in title? Just a thought.

I agree wholeheartedly si. I don't mind if an OT section isn't started on the proviso that people like Les don't complain about the occasional OT thread.
