  1. On the contrary. The fact that there isn't an appropriate section for the OP to post his thread is the very thing that has caused this "bickering and unpleasantness" as you put it.
  2. Wow Pete. Glad your not A&M..... You mention OT posts not being of benefit to members. No one is forcing you to read them are they?? Les: See what your original thoughtless post started?
  3. Pete every other LR forum has an OT section. Why can't we? Its all well and good saying this is a technical forum blah blah blah.... Well maybe it shouldn't JUST be a technical forum. Just wtf is so evil about LR4x4 having an OT section? Please enlighten me. I just don't understand. Here is the point some just don't seem to be letting stick between their ears: If the majority of the A&M team persistently fail to start an OT section, they need to accept that OT matter will appear. It's as simple as that. Now just what don't you get about that?? We aren't forcing people to post about these things, but nor should we ban them from doing so ffs...
  4. I also offered before to moderate a new off-topic section. It was decided then by the A&M team not to go ahead with that plan. I will not offer to moderate again. And because the decision was made NOT to have an off topic section, the powers that be must understand that it will be inevitable some OT content will appear.
  5. I've got to be honest. If I feel I can't come on here and ask the occasional off topic question, or post the occasional off topic thread without a mod getting shirty I'm not sure I want to be a part of this "community" anymore. No one said Les's loss wasn't tragic. Of course it was. In the past I've lost a wife, a son and 2 dogs. Like Steve said we all go through it and it's like the end of the world. So like the original title says it's a sad day indeed when a little discretion can't be used in these rare circumstances. That's the last I'm going to say about this as it gets me fcking angry.....
  6. Oh come on. Its not like we see threads like this every day. A little bit of discretion can be made for the occasional thread like this in my opinion. Unless of course some members complain about them. Which to my knowledge hasn't happened. I sympathise with what you have endured in the past. You haven't posted about these things. That's your perogative. But if you had, I expect people would have been sympathetic and wished you condolences. Give yourself a shake.
  7. Today is the 1st day in all the years I've been on this forum that I've been embarrassed to read a senior members post...
  8. Les mate. You suck. Edit: Did he put it in defender section etc? No. He bloody well didn't.
  9. I'm not quite as.........pc as Pete. So with that being said.. Fine. Go to a different v8 biased forum. They will tell you exactly what you've been told here.
  10. With double valve springs and genuine lifters you will get away with occasional 6.5 but like asked before, why?
  11. Stop linking an RV8 with high revs. Not gonna happen. Unless you spend £££££ on a wildcat setup. Which wouldn't make for a nice road engine anyway. Look over on the V8 forum. There are a few engines over there making ~400hp within 6.5k. Edit: those engines aren't 4.6's, they are 5.2's
  12. Unless you plan to rev regularly past 6-6500 there is no point touching valve gear. Just make sure everything is new and, just as imporatntly, GENUINE. The valve train wears fast on these engines if not treated to regular quality oil services.
  13. Yep. Standard. And the best.. Unless your looking to build a sustained high-revving race engine
  14. I'm sorry friend. Such a sad day indeed. God speed Jasper..
  15. Pete not AFM as such. More the AFM replacement from niges kit. I should have been clearer sorry.
  16. Ok so the AFM unit has a diameter of 80mm and the plenum 72mm. Given the route my hoses are going to take I need a 135 degree reducer - which I can't seem to find in these dimensions OR flexible reducing intake hose. Any ideas?
  17. Yeah agreed. But I was kinda meaning in cars lol
  18. Ooooh your Audi would take me back Pete! Disagree with the Lexus though. It's just too smooth and refined sounding if that makes sense? No gruffness..
  19. Nope. Not in my book. I've had twins, four's, fives, sixes and even a twelve! A singing straight 5 Audi Quattro is the only thing that comes close!
  20. I'm with Pete. Nothing beats a howling v8.. Nothing
  21. Wow. There's a name I haven't heard in a while! I know nothing about the trailer but my father worked for Scottish Aviation many many moons ago!
  22. Thanks Pete. I guess I will leave it alone for now then. Will it be anti-clockwise to slow down and clockwise to speed up?
