  1. This is a classic start of head gasket failure symptom. The gasket starts to leak compression into the cooling system very very slowly, the air rises to the highgest point which is normaly the header tank where it is seperated from the water however, some bubbles make there way to the heater which results in an air lock. The air lock gets bigger and bigger untill the water pump is having trouble moving the water around to cool the engine. Assuming you have check the usual stuff i.e. water pump, thermostat, collapsed hose, blocked rad, faulty viscous unit ect. regards Dave
  2. If you are just greenlaning then why bother with the roof rack? Remember you will increase your centre of gravity and you will also find that the Discovery does not allow for a lot of weight anyway once the roof rack is fitted. Go for a decent set of tyres and you will find the Discovery will cope with most greenlaning trips. regards Dave
  3. Hi all just adding my bit about leccy fans. On my Disco I fitted a fan from a FIAT van (these have two as standard). The fan cowling slotted straight into the lower lip left by the original cowling, at the top a flat bar was connected between the original cowling mount bolts and all was well. Themostat in bottom hose does the switch work. Incidently on the Disco there are a couple of lights on the dashbaord that are not used, I now have my fan wired that if it is switched off during wading an orange exclamation mark iluminates on the dash. If the engine gets any hotter another light (red) comes on. This red light on the dash has the image of a thermometer inside what appears to be a cog? Either way it works great with absolutly no cutting/modding either the fan or the car. regards Dave
  4. I tried to use my high end stereo only to find the cd's actually warp and cannot get them out, DO NOT use a decent stereo in the Discovery centre console.
