  1. Hi not corner specific, just in pairs of front and back esp on a 110 because there a good bit different in load weight capacity
  2. Not ebay but I'm sorry I think I found one that can't be beaten........ GRRRRRRRRR :-) http://www.donedeal.ie/commercials-for-sale/landrover-defender/6377684
  3. Yeap I like square edges if they built the concept Dc100 square, I'd be into it a lot more....
  4. Can you post pictures when it's done...... way way out of my league but still one can dream would you know is there much work in setting up a adjustable brake bias to load the front more than the back on defender 110?
  5. I'd rather this than the DC100 any day......maybe Land Rover should take note
  6. Hi Dave, This topic was covered on here before, so in case you want additional info check http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=29847 I used alloy rivets with a bead of silicone sealant inside the edge of the chequer plate, but I have to admit I think countersunk screws do look a lot better....
  7. Oh absolutely envious of the nice man in Oxfordshire, nice Discovery Comp-Safari / Tout-terrain racer.....
  8. Thanks for the reply's guy's....it was a debate that came about after a few beers discussing the Armed Forces Rally Team that was reviewed recently in a magazine together with the launch of the recent Bowler Defender. My mate has a v8 engine, 110 that he uses for off-road events with a front external and rear internal roll cage, sports seats and harness, excellent suspension etc. It has the engine cutoff switches (internal and external) fitted, he figured if he looked into the regulations required here in Ireland to compete that maybe we could bring it up to the spec required, save the fee & enter a few local rally's. The reason for the question was also because he has a 90 that he use to drive that equally could be made to race or used a parts etc. We googled rally, rallyraid and found a bunch of 110's which led use to believe that on tarmac maybe the 90 and if we decided to try rally/cross the 110 would be the better starter. So far it's beer talk but you never know. Again cheers for advice....
  9. Hi all, can anyone advise as to which is best base vehicle for tarmac rallying a defender 110 or 90? Thinking more of stability etc.... any opinions.
  10. HA Ha that's a sign..... better buy BFG's ...
  11. Maxtrek are the company. I was going to get BFG AT's but couldn't afford them and a friend of mine with a Discovery told me about these, he seemed to think they were very good for the price so I decided to give them a go. I have had them on over a year now through last winter with snow, ice and rain and this summer with no problems and still enough thread to keep me going until possibly feb next year..but it is my daily driver as I said. I googled them and found below from an add. Type: All Terrain Vehicle: SUV/4x4 Pattern: Thickened carcass, wild pattern and deep grooves are the features of this tire. Behind its simple appearance, a next generation technology is applied during production for improving its traction and braking performance. It can easily deal with a variety of complicated terrains and bad weather conditions. Maybe someone else has tried them and will give a second opinion. If I had the money I would get the BFG's but then again I would prob get another set of these and some replacement shocks instead with the money saved...lol
  12. I have "Maxtrek SU-800" 245 75 r16 on mine at the moment and so far I can't fault them..... good grip, good wear and mine is used in a similar fashion as a daily driver on both A & B roads
  13. I know it's prob just me, but I like this and keep the boosts on the shiny one, def nicer..
  14. Or what about a "Used" TD5 Injector Loom for £25, and I wouldn't mind only I replaced mine yesterday...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-TD5-INJECTION-LOOM-DEFENDER-90-110-/141129893738?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20dbff476a
  15. Sorry guys it was a quick search on google to show ye what I mean...but they are here same principal and only £3.25 no idea about postage or ye could do what I did and get them off a scania (1989-1997) in the breakers for €2.00 http://www.swedishtruckpartsshop.co.uk/s9075-scania-3-series-washer-jet-3851-p.asp
  16. I swear they make me want to start a "Leave our Defenders alone and go back to your Civics" thread....
  17. No it's not just you they are really REALLY hideous ... The worst thing about it is I am glad Land Rover are doing well from the whole Chelsea Tractor era and I personally like the Series and Defenders better than the rest of the models offered. But why on earth did it become a fashion statement to all to own a Defender and put god awful bolt on carp on........ or maybe it's just me as well?
  18. Agree with the other two post's. 110 hardtops don't command as much money as say other examples like the Station Wagon to start with and for that price you are in the TD5 bracket. As tach said if it was on a galvanized chassis then it would be a good buy but as it's not I think it's priced high.
  19. If you search the internet you will see how somepeople have changed the little jet on the bulkhead by putting there fingers in the astry well but to be honest this would be no good in your situation. It is a dashboard off job i'm afraid but that's not a big job and while you have the trim panel off you could consider adding the extra jet too, I added an extra washer jet to the wiper arm to have extra water on the windscreen when off-roading.just tee-piece into where the hole is and add the pipe, then run it out the second unused grommet on the bulkhead and clip it to the drivers wiper arm. This is similar to what I have .... and when you already have the dash trim off why not? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/rally-accessories/storm-wash-wipe-system-wiper-arm-mounted-washer-jets
  20. The key is to understand that it is nothing like any other car you have driven. It will be slow, noisey, cold and will not handle like a sports car. you will have to change your style of driving to suit but at the same time you will bond with the vehicle, get to know each quirk, trust it in nearly any condition that you would think twice about putting a conventional car in, as the bumper sticker says "you can go fast I can go anywhere" . They are cheap to service and simple enought to allow you to do most of it yourself (Landrover making mechanics since 1948). The parts are readily available in most parts of the world and what you can't find can be adapted to suit in most cases. The key as said earlier is to find a good one to start with. Research where rot takes hold on each model and while looking for you new landy remember that a replacemet chassis is big money to get fitted. each engine has pro's and con's and each example has a potentail history of care or neglect so look for as many papers showing work carried out servicing etc. then take a drive in one, if your still smitten at that stage spend your money wisley and you will never look back....
  21. Ha Ha the same happened to me. I glued the foil insulation as mentioned earlier to the roof & sides and in the summer it got hot and fell off so I tried again with the camping mats...so far so good they seem to stick much better are warm and do offer a bit of sound proofing as well...just to add I lifted the rubber matting around the front floor well etc and put the camping mats here also as well as a carpeted sheet of ply at the bulkhead to be honest the cab is nearly too warm now lol camping mats get a thumbs up from me
  22. Does the 130 suspension setup come with a longer shock? If not then would the 130 spring leave a standard length shock (unladen) at the height of it's upper travel limit leaving very little room for play? I thought about this myself before and because I'm usually always unladen I bought the proper kit containing a extended shock and 2'' springs. I think this setup my handle better on the road (my daily commuter), but could stand corrected on this....
  23. I put the Landy in for some work today and already going through separation anxiety mad,mad mad and it's all free so I'm still at the €2,200 mark (sshh)
  24. LOL if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail
