Are defender halfshafts same as disco?

been to mansfield desert today and while i was there, 200tdi defender just lost drive and started clunking and grinding. wheels seemed to be jerking backwards and forwards, as if i was slipping clutch. managed to limp it home and on the way home, kept losing drive and when it lost drive only managed to get it going forwards again was to put it in reverse then back into first any help would be appreciated thanks once moving on the motorway seemed to be fine too, it happened more when i had to change gear or set off

Just topped up for offroading at weekend, will drain off and change before next time, maybe month. Thanks

I accidently put a litre of mtf oil in transfer box, will it cause any damage?

the big swivel ball? isnt that a time consuming job

at low speeds sometimes while turning, my 200tdi crunches sometimes, not always tho. anyone any ideas? its like a crunch, like not goin into gear properly but it is in gear

my alternator has been replaced but drove through large swamp after, now in a morning only on cold start, its starts fine but light flashes for a while then goes off. could this be caused by sludge in the alternator/engine bay?

yesterday i got back form work and noticed my hub seal cap was missing from the centre of my wheel, it was all wet with diff oil and leaking quiet a bit, what does this mean? i have since replaced the rubber cap and its not leaking now. is this normal?

Are disco 200tdi prop shafts same as defender ones?

checked terminals and seem to be fine, gunna do tests on battery and earths in morning. will keep you posted. what is the exciter circuit exactly?

been offroading today, washed defender 200tdi on way home and when i get home turned LR off. went out to start it a while back and no battery lights at all, would also not fire, just clicking. used booster pack on it and it fired straight away. any ideas?

It wa just connection mate, was really loose, squashed it tighter on, its stuck now. Cheers
