  1. hi guy's quick update, the main dealer has changed the filte head,(under the wheel arch) they recon that they can sometimes get porous, allowing air in,i dont see how air can get in if diesel is not gettin out, specially when it is under pressure?????, but there you go, will keep my fingers crossed, and let yall' know if anything develops. thanks again. j.d.
  2. hi there again, was away today in my disco came to start it, took ages then when it did go, there was a louder than normal buzzing from the pump, i have dumped the car at the nearest main dealers, and told them to keep it till its sorted will keep y'all informed of any progress.
  3. just thinking, how come when they do something to the fuel tank area (pump, filter, etc) does it have a positive effect on things if it is the injectors at fault? sorry but it's just the way i think!!
  4. thanks again bogmonster, think i will just tell them to carry on and give it a go, got nothing to lose and everything to gain, it's got to the stage that i just dont trust the car,so if i can limp it along this week i am away next friday so i will give them the car for the week i am away and see how they get on. thanks again. will report back. j.d.
  5. cheers for the reply bog monster, the garage did mention that this could be the fault, but kinda thought it unlikely, reason being that it was not causing a problem when the engine was running, but just on start up, and the engine has only done 10,000 miles. dunno if their thinking is right but the options are getting less as time goes on,so they might have to try that anyway they said they are going to rig up some kind of guage so they can monitor the pressure of the fuel in the lines? will update when i find out . thanks, j.d.
  6. hello there, my first post, and a quick thanks to everyone concerned for such an excellent forum, i have a problem with my disco and was hoping that possibly someone out there might have come across it before and be able to point me in the right direction, well here goes, sorry its long winded but it takes a bit of explaining, this first happened some months ago when the disco started to take longer and longer to fire up,it was totaly intermittant with no particular reason for it happening, there is a noise at the filter under the rear wheel arch that sounds as if air is getting into the system?steadily got worse, went into local non franchised landy garage who popped it onto the diagnostics and couldnt find anything wrong, kept it for the day and fault would not occur, changed filter and checked it out but could not find anything, next time it went in they put a new fuel pump into the tank, which seemed to make a difference, but only lasted a few days untill it started the same problem again, back into the garage, they found that there is a problem with the filter head so changed that, again seemed ok, done about 500 miles no probs at all now it has started again, exactly the same again, i am tearing my hair out (not to mention the garage mechanics) has anyone got any ideas? it is a 2002 td5, 70000 on the clock, but a brand new engine at 60000 miles, (under warranty, just before i got it) many thanks in advance, jd.
