My LR Agent discovered diesel in the oil sump which causes oil viscosity to drop and hence a drop in oil pressure. They replaced injector seals but also suspect a hole burnt into a piston. Anyway, the problem disappeared after seal replacement but now 2000km's later it has resurfaced with a vengeance. Not being able to approach my servicing agent I took the truck to the nearest Dealer which claims that the head is now cracked They apparently determined this by removing a single injector.
I have been given a quote that is almost 50% of the vehicles value to fix, ranging from a new cylinder head to bearings, oil pump etc. It was also stated that 'should' the head be cracked it can not be repaired as no engineering firm will risk this ( due to high pressures involved)
Has anyone experienced these symptoms or can you please recommend tests /diagnostics whereby the problem can be determined without a 'total replace and hope it is fixed approach'?
Thanks
