  1. I assume if seals have gone, then do you mean just change the master and slave out for new ones? - or other seals?

  3. I've had the Landy for about a year and they've not been changed since, but no idea when they were changed before. How long should they last?

I noticed for about 2 weeks that its become more difficult to get into 1st gear on my LT77 gearbox and only yesterday I noticed that my clutch pedal needs to be pushed down much further before it engages the clutch now + the bit point is much sharper. So I checked the hydraulic reservoir and found it was very low (below MIN), although I can't see any leaks..... Would this be the cause of soft pedal and difficulty to get in 1st gear (which only happens say twice in every 10) Anything else to check and I don't want to pay out for a new clutch!
  5. so in your opinion I should sell it and buy a non mod with a 200TDi and not spend the money replacing existing one?
  6. this is a question I've been wondering about for a while. my 1987 Defender came direct from Withams and unlike the other 10 or so I looked at there, this came with 3 large envelops full of every nut and bolt which had been changed etc, it even shows where it had been working. However, as some of you would have seen from my recent post, I am looking at replacing the N/A with a 200TDi as I need more power when in Norway along the roads and up the mountains. I just can't quite understand why Ex-MOD as more expensive, because if I spend £1500 on a 200TDi (including full installation as I couldn't do it) then I would probably be cheaper to sell it now, without the replacement engine and buy a normal 200TDi Or, am I missing something? All opinions welcome!
  7. oh well, i'll give up on the idea of putting a radio in, as no sound proofing and a N/A it's already impossible to hear anything!
  8. Ha....always open to suggestions but I think with Norwegian fuel prices a V8 might be a bit of a pocket burner
  9. very valid points..... I recently bought a PAS from a 200TDi but have yet to fit it, so I guess there is one reason + my N/A is not good on fuel at all, so there is another reason are the 200TDi also a lot quieter than N/A? Thanks

  14. not going until January so will be plenty of snow to play in!! - its not the engine i'm not happy with i'm just concerned that it seems to have become very fuel hungry and also power seems to be down for about the last month. I'm really no mechanic so i'm struggling to know what to look for that could be causing this
  15. that makes sense, now I hope the manual explains how to do this as i'm a little new to all this. The engine is a recon one straight from MOD which has only done 90,000 kilometres so I wonder if its time for a new timing belt as you suggested?

  17. ok so the topic may make a few laugh, but yes I am asking if anyone has any idea's what I can change/ add to give my 2.5n/a more power (and that doesn't include taking it out and putting a 200TDi engine in, as I just don't have the fund for that!) is it the case that having the timing belt changed and adjusted correctly will do this? anything else?
  18. Are they a good fit? Its just I've seen them on ebay for over £150, obviously with the glass etc but still £20 seems cheap, and cheap normally means bad fit or won't last long

  21. my RH military door top is cracked and I've had it welded twice now but it just keep cracking, so has anyone got one they want to sell or know of anyone who is selling one? its for a 1987 Defender thanks
