  1. ello julian your three main parts are your engine compressor, valve block mounted under your passanger side of the body and your air suspension units, if i remember right once the air supply exits the vave block to your airbags if one side drops it,s a sure sign you have a leak on a pipe on the side going down or the suspension unit is badly sealed or the rubber airbag has become porous. check your pipes/connectors first for leaks , they maybe leaking or chaffing somewhere , washing up liquid will help detect a leak by creating air bubbles at joints and connection working your way back to the valve block and compressor , it looks like a block to airbags leak from what you say, thats going on the assumption the compressor and vave block raise the car no problem and the back end drops again after a few days . hope this helps cheers Roy
  2. i tend to think that if your motor comes back in better con than before the claim i'm quids in and can live with the poor workmanship providing it's not dangerous or cannot be seen by others and will not de-value my motor . if i do take it back , i advise the manager i'll only bring it back once and if all is not put right on the snag list then i'll complain to my insurance company then the trading standard office . but first i always ask myself am i just being picky
  3. hello andy not to sure on the questions you've added to the post maybe somebody who's done the job can give us the info that price seems very good to the quote i got which as i said was pushing £300 including parts , i'd be well Mildly miffed off if they have hiked the price on my quote as i've only just bought my td5 02 from them , maybe somebody who's had the job done by a indy land rover dealer can say which price is right.
  4. thanks silvio makes a lot of sense as some bolt threads stretch and should only be used once , i take it this is one of them bolts i'll take your advice if i do the job myself.
  5. nice one jim sounds so easy , is this a voice of experience jim or is it that simple , i think the garage said about 5 hrs to do is that right ?
  6. hello people i've been thinking alot about this bolt lately no i lie i've been having nightmere's about it since a mate in work told me about his son's bolt dropping out at 65 mph on the motorway and writing off the engine so i've been given a quote of approx £300 for the job by a indy land rover dealer my question is , is this a good price ? and has any of you folks out there done this job yourself being very hands on should i tackle it myself and would any landy tools be required .
  7. thanks lads did'nt need to unplug ecu there was oil clearly at the bottom of the black plastic box which ecu and jack are in so it's back to the garage next week , not a good start
  8. any chance one of the multi plugs has worked loose out the back of the dash worth a look
  9. cheers allyV8 just worried incase i caused some type of spike in the ecu and sent it loopy
  10. ok folks this may seem lazy but it's about speed is it safe to remove and refit the 2 connection plugs from the ecu on my td5 to check for oil in the loom while the battery is still connected ? the fact that i do not have the radio code is the reason and it would mean having to go to the main steelers with the log book and may even have to pay , i tried to fit the job in this weekend but hav'nt had time , if i know there's oil in the loom it's still in warranty as i've only had it a month so the garage can deal with it if it has , plus i will know for a fact there's oil in the loom that way they wont be able to fob me off and they can get the code for the radio TOPIC SHOULD READ ECU , SORRY
  11. cheers chaps i'll get on it tomorrow as i said loads of power just a bit sluggish when pulling away , a bit like turbo lag but with the intermitent vibration from stick it makes me think it maybe dropping off on a pot
  12. ello members having read about oil getting in the injector loom on the td5 i have been wondering if mine has got the bug i seem to get an uneven tickover now and again , i notice it more through the gear stick and sometimes a lack of power when pulling away from a standing start , so where can i check it for oil in the loom and it's location please p.s while i'm on a roll i here my air spring valve exhaust every so often is this the norm ? the springs are in good nick and it stays up and level at all times running or not , when i had my first td5 many years ago i never recalled hearing it then again i only kept it for 4 months
  13. just picked up this little beast i was sad to let my old 300 tdi go but i never got over parting with my first td5
  14. sorry pete no offence ment so i need to replace with 200 diff flange / 200 prop and fit spacer and jobs done
  15. sorry lads don't mean to highjack this post i've the same problem as stu180268 and i am following the same link showing how white90 did the job (that man knows his stuff) it's crossed my mind to fit a 4 bolt flange on the diff off the 200 disco and fit the 200 propshaft , is it as straight forward as it sounds and any reason against not doing it sorry again stu180268
