Bloody insurance companies take the Mick. I too have screens and a front and rear camera. Didn't know these were not covered.

So it turns out it was the cable.....it was pulled then got stuck ON.... oooops.
£15 new cable and bobs your uncle.
While my mechanic man was under there i had him change the steering damper which was 100% buggered and he noticed the full thing has been poly bushed up.
Great for me eh?
So my £800 Bargain Disco 1 really was a Bargain...Passed the MOT straight away with no advisories. Im a happy chappie

500 miles in mine but i dont go over 55mph and i get there slowly lol..... if you top up at 300 like the other guys on here say you will know 100% that you will be fine :-)

I agree....I looked at all the info in detail before attempting anything.

Maybe we should meet up and share comments ,I will bring spanners and ginger biscuits .coachman
Perhaps mate....not a million miles away

Just turning it might actually reduce fuelling if it is already in a position near max fuelling. You need to know where you are starting and what bits do/operate on before turning this and that!
As Boydie says, the article above is excellent and i often link to it when these threads come up. Understand that and you will understand what you are doing as you make adjustments.
Well its quicker and doesn't use any more fuel so i would say job done lol.....im happy

I turned the Diaphram in the pump 90 degrees clockwise and the improvement on my 200tdi is amazing....apparently works the same on the 300tdi

Interesting but where on earth would you find one of those?

I would also be interested. Mines a 5 door disco 1993 no sunroof

Thanks guys I only want to do light off roading anyway. Just like the way lifted discovery looks :-)
-
That's fantastic just the info I needed . Thanks
-
No its not just not holding....it doesn't appear to be connected at all.....the handbrake leaver inside just sits half way up.....when you out it down it springs up again
-
I found a set of 2" lift springs and shocks.
What I'm wanting to know is ...... Is it as easy as changing sprigs n shocks or do I have to modify cables etc for the extra height.
Thanks for any help in advance ;-)

Very useful info.....I shall attempt this myself

It IS most certainly the auto box! My 1993 disco 200tdi does between 30-25 average. Unmodified manual.
The 300tdi is a little more thirsty but also has a little more power.

Thanks Bogmonster I'll get under and have a look I suppose.

Unfortunately that is way too expensive for my £800 discovery 200tdi. I'm just looking to replace or repair the standard (cheap like me) disco parts.

Thanks, what is an X brake? Sorry I'm new to this

Hi all, new here so please be nice. I just bought a 1993 Discovery 1 , 200tdi. My problem is the handbrake doesn't work and the handbrake handle inside keeps being pushed up (like its on a spring)
Does anyone know the cause of this please.
Thanks in advance ;-)
