  1. I have got the kit as pitured at the top of this page and have no idea as to how it is assembled. Does anybody have an exploded diagram or a step by step on how to assemble it please.
  2. Many thanks for that, yes i had noticed that i had posted in the Defender forum but was unable to move it into the correct one. Not to worry.
  3. We have 3 Discoveries TD5's in our family and everyone of the leaks through the sunroof, i have been told that there is a cuople of drain holes that block up but cannot seem to find them. Does anyone fancy doing a step by step on clearing them? Or even just explain exactly how to find them.
  4. My td5 has got a broken connector on the pipe which goes into the fuel cooler. Does anybody know if the fittings can be bought separate or do they come with the pipe as one unit?
  5. My wifes 2004 HSE TD4 Freelander arrived back home full of shopping only to find that the tailgate wont open and the window wont drop to allow it to open neither. The window will not drop from inside neither using the up/down button. After about 1/2 hour trying, the door released but the window did not drop. Before hand the door opener lever was not making a noise but does now when pulled but still no movement in the window. I now have the door closed but the window is on the outside of the top sealing strip. It will lock but the horn beeps to say that one of the doors is still open. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how, why etc..... Is this a common fault & can it be easily repaired?
  6. That sounds exactly the same as mine. it must be a common problem. Who is the best to buy a sensor from? and how much?
  7. I think all Discoveries will need the fuel regulator changing at some time in their life, do not know of one which hasnt or is in need of one. You can buy the orings and gasket separate they often crop up on Ebay. Also if anyone can get hold of fuel resistant orings there are only two on the regulator that look like they will cause the leak usually the larger one then replacing them and fitting a new gasket should do the job, but like everyone else i bought the complete unit then started to question why when i could probably fix it for a few quid.
  8. I have been having problems with my 2002 td5 Disco suffering from a bit of a lean. Having inspected the underside i noticed that the rubber bush/ring on the bottom of the SLS arm has snapped and therefore when the vehicle tries to level itself the bush/ring lifts off the bolt rather than adjusting its self to suit the position of the body/chassis. It sounds like a pretty common fault and was seriously thinking about putting the thing on springs as the air seems to be causing one problem after another. However i was advised to leave it on air as when i am towing the air will keeo the car level were as the springs will compress depending on what weight is being pulled. I was also told that you cannot simply fit a new switch it has to be calibrated after fitting to set it to the correct position, Does anyone know if this is correct? Also anyone changed from air to springs and found any difference when towing?
  9. Can anyone help me with a problem i have. I have a 2002 td5 the rear passenger side air suspension seems to be sitting at its full height constantly. The other side works fine. It is quite noticable when its sitting on a level surface and is also quite noticable when driving.
  10. I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a 2002 TD5 Disco with air suspension on rear. About a month ago i noticed my Disco had dropped the back drivers side suspension down onto the bumpstops which gave me quite a shock at first. When i started the car up it raised itself back to the right level, which was fine temporarily to drive. I bought and fitted a new bag as the old one had a tiny pin prick hole in which was the cause of the loss of air. However the passengers side one seems to be at full height all the time while the drivers side one lets some air out after the car has been at rest & turned off for a minute of two. With the car on a level surface it has a noticable lean even when engine runnning allowing the compressor to work. Again the drivers side is lower than the passenger side at the rear. I was beginning to wonder if they are supposed to let some air out when stopped or maybe does the side that stays high (passenger side) have an exhauster which allows the suspension to lower that has become blocked. It is a complete mystery to me hope someone can help.
  11. Less than £100 for one, i just changed one on mine. The new one had a quick fix fitting on so i just chopped the top off the old one with a screwdriver which took a bit of time off the job. I do however still have a problem with mine leaning, gonna put a topic out today see if anyone can help.
  12. I had an experience that rather humoured me in the end. I had just got my divorce settlement through and decided i was going to spend £20k on a loaded discovery which i had in cash as i did not want the bank onstantly pestering me. As i drove into the dealership (s reg escort) a Jaguar and a Bmw pulled in also. Two salesman came across the car park totally ignored me and started to give the other two their sales talk. I stood around waiting, generally brousing through the cars without so much as a hello. After the Jaguar & Bmw drivers left without any money being spent i went to one of the sales men and asked to speak to the manger. I sat at the managers desk and showed him an evelope with £20k in it and asked what i could have for that. His eyes nearly popped out of his sockets, told me i could not pay that much cash for a car but he could sort something out for me. I looked at him and his now groveling like mad, placed the money back in my jacket and walked away back to my car. They were both 2 paces behind me all the way. I made it clear that they were not getting my money for being the way they were. I did then buy a very nice Disco form a little further away but they did treat me like i was there.
  13. Hi there, my power steering box is leaking on my disco, how big a job is it to change it? Obviously it will need doing but i would like to have a rough time plan so i can get it done on my days off. Also any hints or tips would be kindly appreciated.
  14. I have a 2002 Discovery ES which i took for its test yesterday, when they checked the brakes on the rolling road brake tester (rollers) i asked if it was ok to do so. In the past i have been to two different test centres who have took the car out on the road and tested the brakes with some device they had with them. Can anyone point me in the right direction, is it ok to use the rolling road? If not could it have caused any damage to my car?
  15. Its a 2002 ES model but has got the new face lift lights on.
  16. I have just found that one of my headlights (round ones not square) on my Discovery has blown, i thought that it was a straight forward change old bulb out new bulb in, however i started to read the manual and it says i have to remove the front grill before removing the light assembly to access the bulb. Is this correct? Also how long does the job take? Is it worth changing both of them at the same time?
  17. How long did it take to get the headlining out? Mine is in need of an inspection shortly. I did a temerary fix but does need doing correctly.
  18. I took the horrors when mine decided to leak in. I spoke to a main Landrover Dealership and guesss what that!!! "they do that" is what they said!!! I have however smeared vaseline on all the seals etc and it has worked so far.
  19. Many thanks for the help i will let you know how i get on.
  20. To be fair , if you want to go fast you dont buy a Land Rover you buy a sports car.
  21. Was it a big job to change them? Are the seals available to buy easily?
  22. I have just discovered that i have a leak from the power steering box on my TD5, has anybody changed on of these themselves? If so how big of a job is it? Been quite a year for leaks, first sunroof now power steering. www.paddockspares.com do a replacement unit both new and reconditioned for between £230 and £300. My local Landrover garage has told me it would be £400 for a reconditioned one fitted, i was wondering if it was worth the chew me doing it.
  23. My 2002 Td5 does it as soon as the tyres are half worn, Fit new ones and its back to good as new.
