  1. Tiredness got the better of me yesterday, I don't have the BBUS alarm installed and the regular alarm fuse had blown...nice little wild goose chase. Anyway, all sorted now. Thanks for the help lads! g
  2. Ha...did this today with air and water...and it worked! I'm still confused about the alarm sounder tho, I can't see where to re-connect it!
  3. Unfortunately there's not a lot of shops where I am at the moment, so here's what Ive done. 1. disconnected the hoses from the non return valves/straight joiner 2. Pumped loads of water through the pipes from the washer reservoir towards the non return junction - clear now! 3. removed washer jet, taped my compressor to the spigot and blew air back towards the non return junction - clear now! 4. taped my compressor to the rear hose at the straight junction, removed rear jet washer and blew that pipe out...clear now! Put everything back together and now its working great! Thanks for the help everyone!
  4. Thanks a lot Mo! The jet washers had worked up until a few months ago, hopefully its just a clean out needed...I've searched the net on how to do that for such small pipes...any tricks? was thinking of connecting my small compressor. Thanks again!
  5. Any help on this would be most appreciated! Here's what I've done so far - 1. dismantled and cleaned out the one way valve on the hose near the windscreen.. 2. removed/cleaned out and replaced the washer reservoir as it was full of gunk....17 years worth. 3. replaced washer jet on windscreen. Still no joy...I can hear the pump working but no water is coming out! Also, when i took out the headlamp to get at the reservoir I found 2 mystery mystery connectors floating in there...any ideas what they are? think ones a head lamp motor... Cheers!
  6. no he dropped the tank, but i will :).... wondering if anyone does a kit for that actually..template, hinged door etc.
  7. Yeah, I'm not to happy that he didn't change the entire assembly for new to be honest... i know its a big job so you might as well when you are in there... he just didn't call me at the time. I'm gonna tackle everything myself from now on. Ok, injectors seals next ... cheers!
  8. Ok, we went with the advice on here and checked the fuel pump, connections were fine, turns out the tank was full of sediment and the filter was blocked on the pump (see pic 1) the filter was cleaned and the pump was re-installed.... but then died altogether...the mechanic said it was over worked. He replaced the pump only and not the entire assembly... is that normal? (see pic 2) Shes running great now but there is a much more noticeable hum off the pump when ignition is turned to position 1..... is that normal? Also, I read on another thread that a "slimy residue on the filter" is a sign that the injector seals should also be replaced... should I tackle that next? ...looks like slime/oil in pic 2! Anyway, thanks again for the sound advice.
  9. Thanks for getting back everyone! More details - The defender drives but is very sluggish, feels like its lost half the torque, I can only go 50mph max and at this speed it starts to shake more than usual... also really struggles up hill... it feels like its in one big flat spot! After half an hour of driving it starts to shudder when stopped and sometimes cuts out altogether. I'll go through the lists you have given me with the mechanic and get back..... not easy with a foreign language in the mix! Thanks again!
  10. Thanks everyone, Egr delete is done to stop all the carp going back into the engine... you probably wont notice a power increase, but your engine will be much cleaner and last longer.
  11. My defender has lost its acceleration power, I've checked all the usual suspects, changed MAF sensor, checked waste gate, replaced injector wiring loom, EGR delete, checked for oil in ECU/plugs, checked fuel pump.. My local mechanic is suggesting it could be the fuel injectors, he wants to remove them and test them individually.....is there anything else we could check first? Any help would be really appreciated! pulling my hair out here. thanks!
  12. Hello, I just bought an EGR blanking kit for my defender Td5 but it only included 1 blanking piece (for the exhaust end), my wagon has the egr cooler...there's a lot of conflicting info about leaving the cooler in, should i just blank off the left side of the cooler, before the EGR valve and leave all the pipework in? Also, my EGR valve has two breather pipes connected on top, do both of these get blanked off ? Any help would be great thanks!
  13. Can anyone help please? The wiper on the driver side of my 03 Td5 is jamming up and down, making a clicking sound! I have stripped out the dash exposing the motor and wheel boxes, when the wiper arms are off everything is running smooth! as soon as the arms are back on the clicking starts and It jams up again, sounds like somethings buckled!! Should I buy a whole new wiper mechanism and motor? cheers, Gary
