  1. Hi, Just wondered if you managed to purchase and fit the under seat fuel tank. If so, was it straightforward to fit and how much did it all cost. Hope you don't mind my asking but I want to do the same. Thanks
  2. Quite desperate. I could always bring her over to show you. Thanks
  3. Hi. I'm in Ely - quite close to March so it sounds promising. I would be most grateful for his contact number please. Very many thanks
  4. Can anyone recommend a proficient welder in the Cambridgeshire area? My 110 Defender failed her MOT yesterday and needs a new rear crossmember plus welding to the floor & outrigger. I need to sort this out ASAP so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  5. I would have to agree with reb78. We are a multiple car family but our baby is the 110 Defender 300 Tdi 12 seater 1997. One of my main considerations when renewing is the 'inclusive' breakdown cover that most insurance companies offer. The big boys (AA, RAC, Green Flag, NU, Direct Line, CIS, etc) do not cover a 12 seater for breakdown cover. Therefore it narrows it down to the NFU who are quite reasonable anyway and very quick to settle claims.
  6. One in four outs of the air line is correct. I suppose you could do it cylinder by cylinder although I used to do four at a time back in my youth in the seventies.
  7. Yes, this can be done if you have access to a good compressor. Take an old set of plugs or injectors (diesel) and after drilling the centres, weld / braze an airline adaptor on each. Use a 4 in 1 air line adaptor and connect to an airline. Now you should be able to safely remove the shaft and subsequently the springs, colletts, etc. The valves will be held up with the compressed air giving you sufficient time to replace the valve stem seals. I hope this helps.
  8. Do you know if it was removed from under the driver's seat? Is it complete and how much? Please PM me. Thanks Marie
  9. It gives us the option to go down the vegetable oil / bio route should we wish to do so at a later date. Just future forecasting and planning. Marie
  10. Hello 'diesel_jim', Had considered this as a future project on our 110. Would appreciate your sharing the info with us by PM. Regards Marie
  11. Just a thought - If the payment or part thereof for the vehicle has been made by credit card, the card company is equally liable and you could pursue them under the consumer credit act. They are equally liable if the product is unfit for use.
  12. Many thanks for the link, q-rover. My husband had a long chat with them and they were most helpful. However, all their tanks are connected to the main tank, not totally independent as we require. They are happy to make one for us to our design which must state the positions and angles of the breathers and filler. So if you know of a budding young designer out there, please put them in touch. Thanks again Marie
  13. Hi Chris, I presently have a 110 Defender 300 tdi 1998. Having driven from the UK to South Africa many years ago and more recently around India, I have first hand experience of being at the mercy of having to obtain any available fuel. This may include picking it up from farms and villages or people on bicycles along the way. You are not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to shiny clean petrol stations. Should the fuel be contaminated - and this could be with any type of liquid or gunk (use your imagination) the tank can be isolated until dealt with. At a different angle, a separate tank with a hidden filler could prevent the loss of the entire tank contents to thieves bold enough to syphon it out - and yes, it does happen - even in England these days. Hope that answers your query. Now, can you help with the tank(s)? Regards Marie
  14. Many thanks, Matt. Still mulling over which tank and where to place it but have decided on a totally separate tank. Thanks for the offer anyway. Regards Marie
