  1. tapatalk is a great forum app, sadly this forum however does not subscribe. Mapping and GPS apps are also great tools
  2. Personally I started reading the 4x4 mags when I was a spotty youth, then I one day I was scanning the magazine racks one day and found a dedicated publication, that was LRO issue 2 (missed number 1) I read it and the 4x4 magazines avidly and built up a wealth of knowledge long before I bought my first LR in 1991. Problem is then the other magazines started, and as time has gone by as others have pointed out it just becomes rehashed. Same with any other subject, I occasionally scan mags in the newsagents and very rarely buy one. Indeed the last one I bought was Classic Rand Rover which I read on the train from London to Edinburgh in December. I used to read of peoples trans-continental trips, now, I find them quite boring. Knowing a couple of Land Editors, and also having dabbled as an editor for my LR club one year I know how hard it is trying to find any new content to put in. Now if I want info or help on how to tackle a job I just I just hit a number of forums and usually get a quick response. But again, FORUMS well thats another topic in its own right too. I love the printed word, but sadly newspapers and magazines I feel have had their time especially on a topic as narrow as a single marque.
  3. Arghhh, OK pulled rear door trim off and inspected all the wiring, nothing suspicious. Then though, hmm rear interior light needs changing so I removed that from the pilar on o/s and removed the dud bulb. popped a fuse in for a test and bu##er me if all the lights worked !! Who would have thought some brummie muppet would have wired the rear door interior light to the n/s loom !! So the missus can use her Disco again and park her 307 up.
  4. Thanks Stevie I have managed to download the guide, I will have a look through that tonight. Thants too Tanuki that light bulb trick sounds like a good idea. (I am a Defender man too, 110 daily and then we both RTV the S1, the Disco is the wifes spare car )
  5. That would be very helpful Steve All info is welcome. Any idea where I could find the electrical trouble shooting manual too?
  6. My 300 definately has seperate sidelight bulbs. Are you shure that there is a dimming circuit.
  7. Thanks Stevie Someone else mentioned the healight leveller, this is a nice low spec 3 door motor without too many electricals and no sun roofs (I used to have have an ES with everything). Yes the short is immediate, I switch on the sidelights, there sounds like a relay click, then I can see the flash as the fuse blows. Looks like I have to do some dash dismantling. Thats next weekends job, along with connecting up the heated mirrors on the 110 , fortunatly theis is the 4th car, so she is back in the peugeot Gottat dismatle the centre console in that to replace the CC backlights, apparently a 2 hour job, and that comes from the horses mouth, her vrother is service manager at the Peugeot dealer !!
  8. Help ! My 300 Tdi Disco has developed a fuse blowing short circuit on the N/S. It has tail lights/indicators both in the bumper and rear light cluster. At the weekend I did each of the following steps individually then put a new fuse in, then switched the side lights on : Disconnected all sidelight bulbs – fuse blew. Disconnected the rear bumper wiring loom from main loom – fuse blew. Removed all the towing electrics from the loom in O/S which had been scotch blocked on rather than plugged in – Fuse still blew. Checked as many points where harness when through metalwork as I could find – blew another fuse ! Removed and disconnected rear light unit from vehicle – still popped a fuse! The motor is a very tidy 3 door M reg with very little welding done to it (my brother has owned and run it for the last 5 years before passing it onto my wife in October). Also while investigating around the front wiring harness I found this strange connector on the N/S headlight loom, can anyone tell me what it is for ? (possibly the LR / Diagnostics plug) I sprayed it with WD40 just in case but, pop, blew another fuse.
  9. I do love the NRM, havn't been there for a few years now. Dont get home to Yorkshire much these days. But I would have liked to see the A4's are they all still there ? or have they stared going home again?
  10. Beaver ? Cor, Stockton, havn't been up there for years, 25 in fact since I was a student in Middlesbrough !
  11. Aye, but more powerful, and they did hold the record prior to the ill fated Mallard run What with its burned out wheel breaings etc. That said the A4 was sleeker than the Corronation, at least with full fairings.
  12. Rather see the LMS Corronations & Duchesses
  13. Would have been more leafers if my step lad had been feeling better. He has just bought a tidy S3 88" and done his first trial in that last November. Sadly I have to say I did badly, The points read out at the end were bizzarly 10, 20, 30 (Stu) & 40 (me) for the leaf class.
  14. You think those gates were wide !! One of the sections had some extremely bizarre wide gates the section wide courtesy of the lads trying to confuse us, sadly it had a run through some 7.50 deep ruts that I just bellied out on with my mates borrowed 205s. I have some 7.50s in the garden to put on but then its too tall to get into the garage!! Want to go rag top. A great day out though, Stutab annoyingly was only driving for the send time and slaughtered me by 10 points ! but he is a farmer . If you are lucky we may set some more this wide at the Nationals for you all .
  15. Just thought I would drop some images in for your approval from this weekends Chritmas trial at Great Brickhill Unfortunatly I let a friend double drive my 80" ad the bugger had the cheek to beat me Might not let him play next time. Mind you, I am on his wheels and tyres
