  1. try a motor factor such as partco they sell in 25 ltr drums.
  2. i would recomend gary at migtigarc too, have just bought an oxford 200 amp mig from him, nice guy,was on the phone for nearly 40 minutes as i couldn,t make my mind up between two welders.
  3. i use a 9/16 flank drive socket(3/8 drive) and a wobbly extension,seems to work for me.
  4. in my experience l jackson &co were so far up there own arses they could pick there noses from inside!went there with a bloke i worked for to buy dump trucks for a landfill site, very arrogant, thought they were doing us a favour dealing with us,no doubt he will serve most of it in an open prison, fairly close to doncaster too.
  5. i can highly recomend a rubbolite junction box for your wiring, used loads of them in the past, commercial vehicle motor factors stock them.keep up the good work.
  6. i read somewhere recently the brake callipers on your trailer are ford scorpio rears.
  7. evening all,i am in the market for a new mig welder,180 amp ish,lot of welders to choose from, who make are you using?experiences good and bad would be helpful, chris.
  8. 10 ltr volvo bus engines use them as a stop solenoid,£180 is right money unfortuneatly, they are only a momentery stop too, otherwise they burn out.
  9. thats fine if you want to pay nearly £200,where as there may be other vehicle pumps to be had for less,i have found a 150 bar audi pump new for £75.
  10. hi,have just got a milemarker winch but it came without a pump, have been looking for a zf74 pump but this seems to be a mystical part number, have found an audi quatro pump that is 150 bar,is that likely to be enough to power the winch,i hasten to add this is not on a challenge motor, chris.
  11. older cdi engined vito.s are a real lottery, akin to a p38rr.glow plugs fail and snap as you try to remove them, injectors leak, electrics play up,paint falls off, gear change linkage goes sloppy, immobilisers are unreliable, heater motors fail, they are built in spain not germany,t4 transporters as a 1.9 are gutless, most are only 88 bhp,the 2.5 is better, such as the ex aa ones, they suffer gearbox failures though, don,t ask me how i know all this though.all joking apart you would be better off with a ssangyong/daewoo musso for what you are wanting to do and take the rear seats out, they run a 2.9 merc td engine,£2000 will buy you a year 2000 one,the daewoo came with the first 3 years servicing included in purchase price.
  12. don,t want to put a damper on the port thing, but i used to work at felixstowe container port, the only way they will find it is if there is a trcker activated, even then it is not guarenteed,if you were incredibly lucky customs may stumble across it during a random spot check, again sorry if this disapoints you.
  13. well done ralph, jobs like that are a real pita
  14. my previous employer had a thermic lance,it was used a lot to blow large diameter king pins out of steer axles on container handling machines, not pretty or much use on small stuff but very effective.
  15. with the inherent problems with navara engines i would be very careful where i bought an engine from.
  16. a suffolk land rover club member had an m reg 110 stolen the other night, don,t know what security it had fitted, had winch, expensive roof rack, bfg mud tyres,i beleive they removed the small window in the back panel to access the door lock,go to www.slroc.com,then click on the forum, listed in general chat.
  17. si,the tarmac rally boys use an electric pump on escorts, they run 15" wheels with 7" slicks,if there is enough power to turn those it will do your job, google a bloke under the name rally extreme in suffolk,he may point you in the right direction.
  18. trying to find the part number for a 90 300tdi rear prop please, thanks chris.
  19. no disrespect to shb,but there customers really do give them a hard life,i used to work for fork rent in ipswich and the govener bought a job lot of shb motors, 90 td5,s and toyota double cabs, none had done more than 35k miles, but that was 35k miles worth of site driving, just be careful.
  20. i have removed and replaced these boxes using an engine crane in through the passenger door, remove the console around the gear lever and the rubber gasket, there is plenty of room then,an r380 box from a discovery will fit,i have a good one for sale for £125,chris.
  21. very surprised to hear that,i know duncan the owner very well, suggest you ring tomorrow and ask for him,who have you spoken to?
  22. wow that was one cat fight going on,talk about handbags at 10 paces,it is a real shame because i get a lot of enjoyment following build threads,it is a shame if knowledgeable talented people stop posting on here.
