don,t alll laugh and shoot me down,but as a tow car you would do well to look at the ssangyong/daewoo musso,2.9 mercedes tdi engine,merc box,i have seen year 2000 ones for around £1800/2000 gets lots for your money,the daewoo ones had the first 3 years servicing included in purchase price,so most have been looked after.
hi,i have a complete 300 tdi with auto box for sale,box is an ashcroft recon that has done 5000 miles.price is £900.i can also fit it for £500,on top of this is the price of the mounting piece for the gear selector.if you look on ashcrofts web site they show all the tunnel parts,regards chris.
it is a lot of messing around to do them,but 8 spokes and modulars are no where near as strong as discovery steels,so yes if you can dothem well it is worth the effort.
in my experience paddocks customer service is pretty good,when they have sent wrong parts or the parts do not fit (**itpart)they have always sorted it out quickly,they are about the longest established mail order parts supplier around.
at the moment it is a bit of a buyers market,realistically any from £800 upwards,biggest thing going against it is the td engine,i have seen 110,s of a similar vintage with retro fitted 200,s only making £12-£1300.
i used to be a heavey plant fitter,grew to hate my job mainley because of the chopper i worked for,i now milk cows and love my job,get more pleasure out of working on landrovers too now.
iam about to convert my 90 300tdi to auto,have used tech archive but have not found anything on tunnel and mounting the shifter even though i have seen it before,can any one point me in the right direction please,chris.

i wonder if they are opperating from durites premesis which are in harwich?the owner of durite had a tricked up discovery a few years back,built by the late john arnold of ja 4x4 also of harwich.
evening all,i am in the process of fitting the 300 tdi out of my discovery into a 90(1992)the rad appears to sit too high,what is the usual solution?is it to cut down the brackets on the front cross member?thanks in advance,chris.
