Out of interest where did you get your ex AA vehicles from?

You sound like your in a similar position to me, looking for a good 110 300tdi SW or CSW for sensible money, but although having knowledge from mags/forums no real hands no experience. Oh well keep looking and as others had said someday the right one will turn up That said anyone looking at getting rid of a 110 300tdi SW or CSW in the midlands area - let me know

Never order anything from Si (need to buy a LR first me thinks), but and it's a big BUT I have had things sent via DHL, the last thing was something that the mrs ordered on line. returned home from work at lunch time - and note through the door - can't deliver no-one home need signing for.. Ok far enough not a problem. I phone my mrs (she is wanting this order - I'm sure you men will know what this is like) tell her the numbers - so she phones them to say my husband (that's me) will collect from your depot the day after tomorrow at lunch time. Ok no problems... next day same thing - I get home note through the door - no-one in ........... we shall return to sender. grrrr more phone calls etc (mrs getting v not happy) so next door go to collect... Do you have written confirmation that mrs XXXX would like you to collect this for her... ummm no, cause you never told her that I would need it on either the first or second time she phoned you to tell you I would collect.. Well here is the package but what proof do you have that you are married to her (well bu66er me I normally carry our wedding cert around with me, but today I just forgot).. oh hum - I had my driving license, and as the surnames and address matched they let me have the package......

But where am I going spend my money this year with no sodbury..

I'm not - midlander here - although originally from the South - is Dorset South or South West???? I'm southern, the mrs is from yorkshire, which according to her is not northern it yorkshire...... Just done...

Don't know if this is the case, but most the time (as I don't have anything useful to say) I'll just have a look around without loging in - this is especially the case at work - it's just a normal web page till I try to log in. I'm guessing then most the time - I'll be just a guest member...

For a general overview of MOST see here and in order to interfere with MOST, you will need to either have an optical spliter or link lead of some sort - plug it into some like this connect to your laptop (well desktop will work as well - but a little awkward for carrying around in the car) and then you are interfered. How you talk to the car - and whether the rest of the MOST Bus would understand you is a completely different question.

I too, like (the other) Dave have spent quite some time playing around with the Infotainment System in L322's. You mention that you had wish (past tense) a car pc, whilst keeping as much of the OEM as possible - I'm quite interested to know what aspects of the car pc features would would be wishing to use (over and above what the standard OEM system can do). I'm guessing the idea was to be able to use the screen in the vehicle as the car pc screen and use the touch aspect of it as an input to the car pc.. Dave

I haven't seen it, but my general view is that a Land Rover magazine should be for and about Land Rover's. It should be suitable for all ages to read, which from the tone of the first (and second) post it would suggest that this is not the case.

I agree with you, I want my gauge to show me what I have in the tank. It's now getting common for cars also to fake the temp gauge. As long as the engine temp is within a normal temp range, then the temp gauge will just point to the mid point and not move. Once it's out of that normal range (when hot) it will move up into the hot area, so you can go straight from normal (pointing to the mid point) to the lower hot area in one move. If my engine is getting hotter I want to know - even if it is just hotter in the normal range (i.e. am stuck in traffic - just driven up a big hill - etc)...

Yep, most gauges do that - the reason behind the 'quirkier' fuel gauge is explained as follows. Research has shown that the majority of drivers don't like, once having filled there vehicles with fuel, to see the fuel gauge needle start dropping as soon as the engine is running. Therefore the gauge is keep pointing to the max for a longer period of time so to give the impression that all the fuel you've just put into your tank is still there. After a number of miles - varies between car companies - but usually around 50 miles, the gauge will start to move from max (check it next time you fill the tank - but this really does depend on how you drive etc). Then the gauge works as normal till you start getting low, at this point it shows you have less in your tank than you really do - to try and encourge you to fill up before you get to all that muck in the bottom of your tank. So what happens in real life is, you fill the tank up - gauge doesn't move. Then it has to move from max to min very quickly to show less fuel then you really have, but then normal can stay on min for a while.

Yep - correct from what I've been told. The reason that SII disco had a TD5 was that the engine bay was too small for the TD6 that BMW brought to the table - and the TD4 wasn't man enough for the job - oh and they had already started the development of the TD5 engine ...

Yep, all that is on - you could choose between the many electrical databuses that are currently on a TDV8 - and an optical one for the Infotainment (radio, sat nav etc). It is technically true that you need to have all of the system in place for it to work correctly, and for it to be all correctly coded (after all the car needs to know what it is and what it has fitted). You can get it to work by faking parts of the system to the remainder of the vehicle. I do this all the time - I suppose I should say I work for Land Rover and test certain aspects of the electrical/optical system - all you need is the correct software, hardware interface and the knowledge/configs to make it all work. The software and hardware interfaces you can buy over the counter, the knowledge/configs - well it's more than my job is worth... and even then I only know a very small part - and you know what they say about alittle bit of knowledge...
