For some reason the picture is upside down even tried to rotate the original file but still came in upside down. Maybe a mod could sort this.

Best thing I've found, is to rotate the picture in some way on your device (orientation not important) then save it. Then correct the orientation and reupload. Its something to do with the orientation info not getting transferred I think. I have the same issue sometimes even though the photos show correctly on my iphone/ipad/icloud.

WOW, I got a real treat today

My neighbours son works for a Landrover dealership he came to see his dad in this today HSE 130 300 ?

Asked to have a look at it and he handed me the keys and told me to take it up the road

First off it's massive, however it goes like s%%t off a stick, quiet  info screen very clear, cabin spacious...

Damn I wish I had the 90k to buy one....really I was very impressed at how good it was

    Regards Stephen

I do like the '130'. I think the proportions are a bit better than the short back end of the 110 and 90.

  3. You also get sliding calipers flexing. Chatting with David at Llama yonks back he was talking about a D2 based, RRC  bodied, comp safari car. That was full braided lines end to end and couldn't get a decent feeling pedal until they worked out it was the calipers flexing when they hit the brakes. Swapped out for fixed and the pedal was all good.

@FridgeFreezer it's probably pot luck but I'd say I've had the opposite to you over the years. Only ever had one piston stick on a fixed caliper but almost always had to battle with sliding calipers when working on the brakes.

Not saying ones better than the other, my personal preference is fixed ones based purely on the fact I've had less issues with them.

I’d have to echo that…. Yes I’ve worked on the odd sticky piston etc on fixed, but by far had more issues with sliding calipers.

plus...... with sliding calipers it means you can get bigger brakes without pushing the wheel outboard any more.

But how often the more powerful versions IE bigger brakes mean they go over to fixed.

It was the Lands End Trial last Friday night/Saturday morning. As per usual we ran recovery at Riverton Hill (open 23.45 to 07.30(. It was the 500th running of the event, with over 400 entrants. Some amazing cars, including two GN's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GN_(car) and 6 Model A's all running together.

Thanks to repairs on the hill, it was much better than last year

Saw a few trials like cars on what must have been Friday.... but on the A303 headed northbound?

I remember Dirtydiesel buying a set of them as they looked great but he ditched them very quickly for being "bl**dy useless", make of that what you will.

No idea if it was DDs experience, but they look like a tread pattern that would fill up and stay filled?

I still think it's cost but you won't get the same braking force from a "single" piston as two. Hence why the Brembos on the 4.4TDV8 cover 1/3rd of the brake disc and are why you can't fit smaller than 20" wheels on them.

Isn't the JCW a more "powerful" version?

I'm agreeing Ed :P. and yes, the JCW is the top model power wise. 230bhp go-kart.

Why is that? Cost? I personally hate the bloody things. Only vehicle I have that has them is the rear of the RR, never had an issue with the 110s calipers being double sided. Fronts on the RR never had an issue even with 8(?) pistons in them.

Rear of the RR or my Mums Toyota Avensis, sisters old Auris, Dad's Shogun they all suffered from stuck sliders. Bearing in mind only one of those gets used off-road regularly.

IMO It's got to be cost.... My JCW daily driver's got 4 pot Brembos on the front.... and sliding calipers on the rear. Drop down to the Cooper S and it's sliding calipers all round.
