Did Ross @landroversforever sell the 200 out of his project? Or did that happen a long long time ago?
Not sure which one these days.... but it's somewhere in mike's collection of 200tdi lumps

do you happen to know wich one's you got ?
Looking back at my invoices FRC6137 listed as 45mm (based on being the ones I ordered extras of). Info might be in my build thread too.

Probably! I think just a light change would help. They’re a little lost.

Is that with the longer wheelbase?
I think it's got great potential.... I just query the look of the rear bumper and keeping the same lights from the full bodied version. Hilux at work with a flatbed has a 'normal' pickup bumper and it looks terrible.

My Verniers have dials. Super easy to read but they are perhaps a little more fragile than a simple Vernier scale. (touch wood, not broken one yet!)
Must admit I've never got on with the dial type!

I'd like to see mike fold up into a gem too!

I used a lathe for mine... but mine are cut-down M16x1.5 bolts...
What's the rationale for cutting the studs shorter than they come?
Stops the high speed air whistling through the threads up to the nuts and creating a high pressure scenario that blows the nuts off the wheels when you get to 45mph.

Another vote here for it having a proper once-over kind of tune up. Fresh belt if its due, timing checked, rockers etc all checked over. Colleague's old 200tdi 90 was night and day different after just going over the valve clearances.

The problem I found when diving into the world of studs and ordering them, was part numbers did not guarantee length and or head design. I bought small packs of various and even 30 when thinking on the right track (going by the absolute reassurance of others) , then the end result was where I’m at 🤷🏻♂️
Ouch . I ordered the 'right' ones for each end.... later realised on type would work perfectly both ends so ordered repeats of one type a few years later and got the exact same bits through.

Interesting on the stud front. I've used an off the shelf stud which was all the right shape which has given me similar stick out front and rear. That's with early 90/110 front hubs and imperial early disco or RRC rear hubs.

Just how old do you think I am?
That's just the style we have laying around at the workshop, I must admit I'm about 100x quicker reading a digital scale over a vernier, but I do know how to. And at least the vernier doesn't have a dead battery whenever you need it.
Dead batteries are the very reason I have proper verniers at home and the workshop.

Looks like something you could make as a little side line to fund Sid work. Knowing how quickly you knock stuff out it wouldn't take much time away from Sid stuff.

I must have done Stephen, but memory is failing me today!

Spendy, but not as bad as I thought it might be. I reckon the various places are just worried about the unknown hardness/treatments on the current shafts. Is there enough diameter on the original shafts? Or is the merc spline much smaller?

I'm going to keep an eye out for a 200tdi as that's the quickest way to keep it on the road. If one doesn't come up between now and the end of the current commitments then I'll rebuild to other engine. I just hope it lasts that long as it's starting to be antisocial with it's smoking.

Just get a big speaker playing popcorn limiter noises and you'll fit right in Mike!

Might it be easier getting a custom set made?

Not sure how useful a turntable would be for that, just hang it off a chain and move the scanner around?
I don't think that's necessary at all, it might help with photogrammetry but I don't think it'd do much for this type of scanner.
My vague understanding of photogrammetry is that it needs to know angles and distances so an arm like that is a benefit, but can’t see it being useful for these kinds of scanner.

I have a td5 disco saved search on eBay and this kind of one is pretty common:
-
One of the differences to me is the td5 being much newer there are still loads of parts around. Lots available new still… and I reckon far more available new than 200 stuff.
I would be wary about relying on the breaker making back much money given how many Facebook breakers there are flooding the market.

That’s impressive! Interested to see how the measurements stack up to real life measurements.
