There are stand alone looms available for them Mike. Don’t believe they need much.

I would hope so Ross. That project was amazing and my bit, the cryo system, introduced me to incredible low temperatures. Liquid Helium was controlled at 4-5 Kelvin and when things went a bit wrong, returning cold Helium gas caused oxygen to liquify and drip off pipes onto the floor like water.
The plant is still running at the moment! Doing some STEP bits I think.

Apparently not!

We built a lot of industrial control panels during my early career. They were PLCs not hard wired relays, just in case you think I am really old. All the standard I/O wiring was in black with numbered identity ferrules, defined on the drawing and usually referencing the I/O address. It was quite a chore to apply them at both ends prior to crimping but once on and lined-up it made for a tidy job. The Klippon DIn rail mounted terminals to the external multi-cores, were also numbered but usually something simpler. That required a two-column cross-reference table. Spreadsheets didn't exist in the 1980s!
Probably some of that at JET still running until very recently Tim!

Anything to dull the shiny surface helps. Done it with dye-pen testing chalky paint in a bind before.

Or a friend's 90 which was owned by an auto electrician.... every single cable was plain black

If I'm filing ali then a bit of any old chalk works nicely.
For the cleaning out, you use the ali bar along the alignment of the teeth (so usually some kind of diagonal across the file) to push the stuck bits out. Always found it more effective than the file card... and several time-served tool makers I've worked with always swore that file cards weren't any good for file longevity.
-
Can't say I've ever found issues with handling files.... more of a problem is when people use them on lathes and wear out a section. Also I don't find file cards much use for cleaning out when clogged, and can damage them, so I always keep a bit of ali bar around for cleaning out instead.
-
Use them to keep it sharp then, and a normal file to get it close.

Or for something like the teeth on a saw that are difficult to get into, you can get diamond files.
As above, the only issue might be that the blade is too soft.

Oh that's lovely

Having just opened TunerStudio I know that's not possible .
Before I left my previous job they brought in SAP - for almost a year and a half my boss had no clue how much budget any of his projects had. We used to have this beautifully simple internal web page called Project Browser where you could go, enter the project code and it had three tabs. Summary, Hours and Direct Expenses. On summary it said how much money the project was allocated, how much had been spent and how much was left. The other tabs broke down exactly what you expected. It was updated live as people charged to it. SAP - well after 3 years of being there when it was introduced I never successfully ran a query to know how much a project had spent.
Whilst I was farm sitting for my parents I had a visit from an electronics distributor rep - since he'd driven all the way down from Reading area gave him a cuppa and we sat and talked even though I wasn't involved heavily with the business at the time. They'd had SAP introduced a year before - one of the outcomes of that was that they were unable to ship anything for a month. Superb for a electronics component distributor...
We went from SAP to Unit4, and from an end user only using it for timesheets really it's been a proper backwards step.

We had a boat 3D scanned for a cover at work. I've no idea what they used but as commercial I expect expensive. To be honest it took them as long to scan as the guy with a tape normally does, it cost twice the price and didn't fit. Now I appreciate there's a lot of variables but I guess all I'm saying is at a minimum your going to be checking the scan with a tape at which point you need to question the cost.
Mike
A different department had part of the building scanned..... and got one of my gas alarm panels 40mm smaller in all directions (its about 400x300x200) . Our in house folk can do it to about 1mm. Max of 3mm in terrible conditions.

IMO it's a fair price to me once you've paid for the bosch seals, machining time, material and coating. That's without the time packing/sending or stuff like design time and things like insurance and other business costs. Nick won't be seeing much of that in his pocket!

Interestingly, the pump on my old T5 2.5 il5 was the same as on the 200/300 and it's boost pin was exactly the same profile and dims as the standard 200/300. I was told the Audi version of this lump had a better profile....
I also want to say I'd seen somewhere that the spacer is also found on some versions of the pump?

Cherry for that. I didn't realise some will wear a groove in. Lots to think about 🤔
I’ll leave the decision on aftermarket pin or not, but if you do, @NRS91at Steggs Supplies ones match the original Bosch material and process spec and would be where my money would go.

Another one here that actually found it an enjoyable read. Lots of well made points and it read well unlike a lot of tripe in the press.

I think that was a pre booked pre-booked event Mike, with Walters AM honouring those who have paid up to a cut off date.
Interestingly WAM isn't the only site closing it's doors to 4x4 events. I know of two others going the same way. I know the owner of one site very well and I've been trying to find out why...
It would certainly be interesting to know the reasons. If it means that other sites can be saved based on the knowledge it can only be a good thing.
