  1. thanks guys, i will do some more digging aimed towards the drag guys
  2. i am fitting an electric vac pump to gernate the brake servo vacuum on my TGV. (its has a through drive from the alt for current vac pump) alt is knackered and they are £££££££££££££ plus i like the idea of running it on a std alt where the A can be uprated easily. i believe the elec vac pump needs to switch in and out as required and as such i need a solenoid to control it. From what i haev found i need to maintain between 24 and 30"Hg in the servo. Does anyone have any idea on where i can get a vac switch/solenoid to turn the vac pump on and off as required. Do i also need a no return valve?
  3. my tgv runs the vacuum pump off the through drive from the alternator. i am contemplating fitting a 12v vac pump so i can upsep the alternator. How would i take out the oil feed and return to the current vacuum pump, joing them straight together doesnt seem to be an option currently. can the feed be blanked off? obviously the sump return can be.
  4. sorry, what does this mean? it discharges quicker?
  5. i am comparing a PC1500 to Numax CVX27 (i think its called), thank you so far.
  6. lots of people rave about them, whats so good about them to justify the cost? Sorry ODYSSEY
  7. cheers Si, If i recal thats exactly what Nick used on RV4 in the days of hwolin wolf, worked well for us then.
  8. slight change to plan in that i found an air suspension 6l ali tank on the bay which i tapped 1/8BSP to take a 6mm PF. So i have finished it, used new parts throughout less the air tank which was £20. a.T max compressor, swapped the head orientation around and used a 6mm 3/8 BSP pushfit for the output b.Gigglepin manifold with two locker solenoids 1/8 BSP, 6mm PF output to air res, 3/8 BSP PCL QR output (one end) and 6mm PF input from the compressor and 3/8 ARB pressure switch c.ARB pressure switch d. T max air line kit - adpated the fittings to take PCL QR.a All in around £100
  9. i dont have ARBs thank you for suggestions guys i am trying an old fire ext, if thats a no go then RRC cyclinder!
  10. wow that will teach me to bother. i was basing it on the issues we have currently had with our works Warn winches which are doing exactly the same broken things - Hope you get the winch sorted. have you tried bypassing the solenoids and wiring straight to the motor to see if it works?
  11. if it clickes solenoid is working probably water ingress in the motor press winch in and lightly tap the bush end of the motor with a hammer
  12. cheers i am after 120-90 pressure wise - thats what the switch will change at anyway. so RR one is out. thank you anyway
  13. thanks guys some great ideas, like the small welding bottle one, think i have one kicking about! ref the fizzy drinks bit, what size coke bottle? 250, 500, 1L, 1.5L 3L ?
  14. interesting, i have one of these built in, it went a little hay wire a few years back, 14 rolls in 18mths i think we were, 4 of them not even at a comp! try Jerry Hunt, hes in Hampshire, just built new truck for KoV type events, we are bound to go over....
  15. have just fallen over backwards with the price of an ARB compressor so am thinking of using a T max compressor or similar and plumbing it a manifold via an air res to run onboard air, predominantly for lockers but also for occassional tyres. any suggestions on what could be used as a suitable sized (1-2l how much is needed?) reservoir? something that is compact and can easily be adapted to fit a 6mm pushfit fitting into that can connect straight to a res.
  16. great to catch up last night, hope you guys had a good day today. catch up next week. ref tyres, i am growing to like the GG on the L322, i am running BFG Ats 235.85s on a 110 and 265.75s on a 90 so can make similar comparisons to yourself Ed. do you have a link to the 20"s please?
  17. Hi Chris, to confirm call earlier i will be along Sat evening to join you. OT: those 20" BFGs i take it are ATs? i haev 275/55 GG ATs on mine they are a good tyre so far, comparable to performace with BFG AT. Chris - yes it was MTRs on 19s that puncture.
  18. i know mine doesnt have the aux batt compartment. on the earlier ones its on the driver side of engine.
  19. i used an existing stud in the rear of the vehicle coming off a mounting point.
  20. Hello, i am looking to fit a 2nd battery in the boot and have read the various threads on here about it. What i would like to do is use a VSR as referenced here: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic19898.html?highlight=second+battery+fitting by Barracuda186. i would like the vehicle ECUs to run off the aux battery (connected via VSR) rather than the main battery so if they flatten the aux battery the main battery will still have charge which could be used via a switch to power the ECU (bypassing the VSR) B186s post is exactly what i am trying to achieve. The issue i believe i have is with some differences with the 10MY setup. I have four cables to the +ve terminal. one off the bottom of the pyro to the s/m i believe one (a) that goes to the negative terminal via a plug one (b) that goes to the rear fuse box (where the 2nd battery is installed (with fuse)) one © that if it doesnt have 12v on it the computers dont come on. i had hoped to put a + b + c together on one side of the VSR, which i thought would mean with the 12v aux battery connected to the rear fuse box would utilise cable 'b' and feed the power to cable 'c' for the computers. i tried this. With a + B + C disconnected from the main battery i had 12.6v at the the rear fuse box connection when the aux battery is connected up. But i only have 10.6v at the engine bay end of cable 'b' when it is not attached to anything. If i connect it to cable 'c' i get 4.6v showing. when setup like this the vehicle has no power to the ECUs so hence the idea of running the computers off the aux battery this way doesnt appear to work. putting cable 'c' back on the main battery makes everything power up as expected. has anyone any suggestions on how to make this system work? is it linked to the pyro device?
  21. yes,, but i binned it....... where and how am i looking to check amperage?
  22. thank you both, will check multi plugs and trace wire to fuses, thank you
