  1. The defender one I took off is taper on both sides . the new disco one is the other type I guess .
  2. Its a 97 TDI and the swivel and housing is from a 98 disco
  3. So opened it up looks like its a different set up ? Thrust bearings instead of tapers ? Why is this different ?
  4. Got a swivel from a early disco and everything fits good except the top swivel pin looks different for a abs sensor I believe . can I just use the defender swivel pin instead . it looks different .
  5. OK sorry for my lack of knowledge but how is the CV properly positioned with the stub axle ? The circlip went on fine

Got it off . drilled out the innerrace and split it with a chisel . thing was a nightmare to get off . found a used hub and stub shaft in great condition at the wreckers. now having a issue with my turning circle only when I turn left .. It turns very wide but turning right is fine . The steering stop is not even touching and I can't turn the wheels any further left.
  7. I was down on power once and I traced it back to the sender unit not fully sealed at the tank .
  8. Yes caliper is off. Inner race seems seized on . that hub will not come off . hammered and pryed , penetrating oil .. Nothing will get this hub off . I think a torch or a puller is the only way .
  9. 300tdi . front left wheel bearing is knackered . took off both locking nuts . the hub will not come off .. I don't have a puller and I don't have a torch . any ideas how to get this off ?

  11. Just switched to a set of 285/75 x 16 bfgs and ome +2 hd suspension . when I now take tight corners the back side of my tires are rubbing on my radius arms . I'm pretty certain wheel spacers will fix the issue. Thoughts ? 97 110 300tdi
  12. So I changed the injectors purged all the lines and fittings . And still having issues with power and white smoke . I'm thinking it might just be the head gasket Although compression is fine and the oil is also not milky .
  13. He says he can replace the needle and nozzles for around 100 an injector . Prob just buy new ones and rebuild the old and keep them as back ups . It's a new fuel filter and the proper one but I noticed the previous owner has removed the sedementer ...
  14. Took the injectors out . Took them apart and found rust inside . Seems I have water in my fuel. Time to start flushing .. And get the injectors rebuilt
  15. Timing is fine and no flow out of the filler . The ticking sounds like it's from my injection pump and stops ticking when fuel is restricted . I'm thinking I need to check the return line to tank and sender and rebuild injectors .
  16. No loss of engine oil . I did the valve clearances today but the ticking is still bad . It seems it's getting way too much fuel . I think I'll change the injectors next .
  17. Ok checked the compression . It's within specs . But I noticed a tapping sound . White smoke is definatly diesel smelling .
  18. Ok I'll check the compression . The manual states checking it though the injectors yet I see forums on checking it through the glow plugs . Does anyone know what the pros and cons are here ?
  19. 300tdi has lost power when under load and is exhausting a lot of white smoke . Seems to be getting worse . I have changed the fuel filter , air filter, changed the lift pump . The coolant levels are normal and the tube from the turbo to the injection pump is fine . Could I have turbo or injector issues ?
  20. yea i am going to swap out the lift pump, about 80 Canadian so not to bad price wise. thanks for the advice.
  21. yea i checked the leak off pipes and the fuel line fittings . i think it may be my lift pump .
  22. Yes . And the issue started before the filter change
