  1. Hi Arrived at the Gas Club last night to find it crowded with ladies learning to dance, there were about 50 ladies and 6 guys very loud music and not a free table so I stayed long enough to down a pint at the bar, and came home. We may need to change our night if this is a permanant fixture. Should be OK for Sunday. John
  2. Hi Not sure I can make it tonight. OK for Sunday. Been reading about 'Water Lane' near Alton looks good and there are several other lanes in the area or as Ross suggested 'Bunney Lane' with the Shire Club. John
  3. Hi I arrived at 8 ish, no one there!! Can't make this Sunday going to Castle Combe, see you next month. If you are planning for another Sunday please let me know. John
  4. Hi I was hoping we could make it the 17th, we can discuss it tonight. Hi Turbo can you post or PM the pipe lane, I have a list of the OS Refs for about a dozen lanes but looking at the ariel views its not as I recall. Thought it might be the one that comes out on Kilkenny Lane? The one at Midford I recall as a steep rocky climb got very narrow and I think we turned back. John
  5. Hi Looking for some local knowledge for a Swindon Club trip. About four years ago I did a run down to Bath and had a great day on the lanes. I'm looking to do another day out and would appriciate any local knowledge as to TRO's closures etc re the lanes around Peasedown St John, Midford and I remember a steepish track with a large pipe to climb over anyone know where this is? Thanks John
  6. Hi What's the deal with Imber? seriously I would like to know. I've been a couple of times and apart from the Church which is usually closed there is nothing to see, and there are no BW's only the tarmac roads or am I missing something. I've read that in the past the houses were as if the people had just left for the weekend, but now there seems to be only block training shells. Please what am I missing? John
  7. Hi Scott You need to try that size on the rough so you can decide whether to buy a set, so I'm happy to be passenger for another trip. John
  8. Hi I'm up for the 25th & the 8th I notice Ian & Ross have put their names down for the Shire outing on the 8th, puzzled why you would pay £15 to have someone lead you over BW's that ae open to the public!! Don't take this wrong the Shire are a great bunch of guys, I was a member years back and Bunny lane & Brick Kiln were the great P&P sites and I usually shun P&P. Thinks..... I'll take you for £10 :-) No refunds if we get 'lost' as its often more fun. John
  9. Hi Does anyone know someone who would be interested in GreenLane driving & helping with maintenance. I find that after 6 hours driving, I'm getting aches & pains so I need someone to share the driving. The guys who used to come out with me, Wayne & Ross now have their own trucks. I don't mind whether your experienced or never been offroad. You would also need to help with maintenance, as again I find lifting jacks, ramps, axles stands, and a large toolbox difficult, again no experience required. So young, old, male, or female you just need an interest in 4x4's Thanks John
  10. Hi The pipes are in different places inside the tank so that a vent is clear regardless of the angle of the car. I ran them into one large pipe to extend the breather. John
  11. Hi Have noticed on here and other 4x4 sites people asking about maps, and finding Byways etc Could we make these web sites Stickies. You can buy OS Maps on line about £7 Try here, http://leisure.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/products/paper-maps/paper-maps-ordnance-survey-great-britain/paper-maps-ordnance-survey-great-britain-os-landranger-map I find Landranger maps are best as the larger explorer maps are too big. There are these OS maps on line and both have ariel views which can be useful. Byways are the red +++++ which become green on the explorer scale. On line OS Map http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htm?t=the_g...mp;g=SU1396085695 You can change the ref number at the end so the map opens where you want. Another OS Map http://www.bing.com/maps/ hope these help. THe Birds eye on the Bing Map is great it's also world wide check out the Strip in Vagas or Golden Gate Bridge Have fun John
  12. Hi Why do you want to go to Imber? From a 4x4 view, there are no closed Byways, its all tarmac road. From a historic view, the old village is gone, only the church left, and that's fenced off. OK scenic drive over the plain but you have that all year round on other roads or Byways. Whats the attraction, really am I missing something. John
  13. Hi Here's one of the Trooper with 90 in foreground. John
  14. Hi Good day out, glad the V8 behaved in the fords. We started at Brinkworth and met a family in a Trooper, I think, on the BW at Somerford Common. They were from Corsham and had gone to the Play & Pay at Minty but having road tyres were sensible advised not to enter, so I said tag along and they were really pleased. Ross at the Fossway Ford This is me at Brookend Ford near Sherston The last BW was 300m between two farm tracks and gave us the only 'Stuck' & 'Damage' of the day. Sorry Ian it was my fault I was tired, used to having Ross drive, and didn't notice I had a wheel in two different sets of ruts. With my greater ground clerance I scrapped through and should have realsed you would ground. Must take more pics next time. John
