  1. Jus tread that link about the efffects of mega squirt. agree with the seats, had no trouble with anything else.... and this was sea water.... admittedly flushed with fresh water and duck oil afterwards....
  2. been in the sea with mine around bonnet depth, yep killed my starter motor the rest so far perfect. lots of duck oil. and hosed down with lots and lots of water, submerged in fresh water after being in the sea. alternators are ok still, this was about 6 months ago. so far nothing else gone wrong.... A V8 thug also did the same, I believe all ok with his electrics starter motors etc So easy to sit back and go ooohh dont do this dont do that. in theory your correct but the same can be said about drinking alcohol or walking beside a road with the risks... you'll be fine, through it in if it stops tow it out... only thing to be damaged is pride...
  3. i run these, the road goer v8 3.9 90 has hand them in for over 2 years and no problems. efi My megasquirt trayback v8 3.9 has had them in for just less that 2 years and so far perfect.... knowing my luck now both sets will die........
  4. taken from here around 3/4 of the way down the page.. - http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=79554&page=5 Why are you putting the edis module in there? why not keep that under the bonnet? If you do keep the edis in there make sure you use a screened cable for the signals and try not to run the edis wiring in close proximity to the MS harness as the coil wires can induce rogue signals into the MS harness if you are not careful. ^^ To add to above - EDIS is waterproof as it the EDIS Plug Nige Why are you putting the edis module in there? why not keep that under the bonnet? 5. should be easy to through in the etra 4 wires ( 2 heaters 1 earth and 1 signal) there is a very good kit forsale all built up at the moment in the forsale section.
  6. purchase my lse I have here with 62k on it. She's Black fairly solid, new rad, you'd have a full set of spares then. Engine good be ran on gas for years. Brooklands edition. It's a option.
  7. I would keep or replace the 4.2 with a good or rebuilt 4.2. If you want some extra go the intended would suggest megasquirt system. The improvement to my 3.9 with it fitted was very noticeable. I have Brookland edition lse all black that I should do something with it as I find it difficult to brake her for the engine and box as she has done less than 65k. Very savable. Lse is a awesome truck I'd be leaving it more-a-less factory with useabke upgrades.
  8. With mine, all i do is switch off _ (she keeps running) i touch the brake peddle and she stops :S LOL not attached in the resister on the alternator wire yet as i'm clearly being a slack B~$TWARD......

  10. I might have a spare plug with new pins / terminals if you struggle to find a replacement
  11. look forward to this, hopefully this will help educate me about my own install a little more LMAO
  12. i can second Dave W set up. and you can splash out on magicore leads to for the extra BLINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG factor..... and for the added benefits of course.....
  13. the LR coil packs are fantastic as Dave W says, Keep them in the Landrover position behide the engine and therefor you can buy leads from any LR supplier and they all fit perfectly. If you want to splash out and help with waterproofing etc go and buy some magnacor leads and they are the prefect length and are designed to work around the engine. i can highly recommend this set up.. and it look rather neat.
  14. why not just put the internals of the hp 24 into the hp 22 box? 400bhp is alot and i'm guessing the torque is alot more? the lse box is an uprated hp22, good for 200hp all day long like the 4.2 kicked out. i'm guessing they can take alitle more with good cooling.. but if your a bit of an animal off-road then something alittle beefier is going to be needed especially with your hp and torque figures.
  15. other than that then these are all the rage now http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1012998&Itemid=14
  16. why not buy them again then? maybe go crazy and go one red top and one yellow top?
  17. ARGHHH my head hurts. This is the part of MS that un nerves me.. so many options so many varibles and so many opinions. just wish a real auto tune would do it all for you but that is too easy i guess. I only really wanted to make my V8 waterproof (to a point) and run better. Trying to learn all this is head damaging LOL.. So my understanding nige's map is a great starting point can we all agree on something?
  18. you need to get the auto tuning / logging and analyzing.. like your man said your kpa still seems a little high should be around 50 at tick over.. but there again your idle was at 900+ so could account for it. before starting to auto tune etc you need to get up to temp i'm sure your lamba will be ok... (i could be wrong) no harm in removin cleaning it and putting it back in and then go logging etc.... you will notice a vast improvement even from 1 auto tune / log analyse....
  19. remember firstly to block the pwm both sides and try and set the idle with the idle screw. first. remember to calabrate your throttle position (with engine off but ignition on) timing again you want the above disconnected and set to 6 deg and up to running temp. then put it all back together and i'd auto tune, then analyse using mega log viewer and try that new map. Sounds and looks like your getting there, well aleast the basics. now we both need to learn alot more..
  20. Was you at idle with the above?? looks like the KPA is high if so. you have moved the pipe way from the old vacume advance correct and T'd into the fuel reg pip into the manifold or similar? and blocked up the old one? idle is usually around 50 kpa at around 500 / 1000 rpm. i take it at the minute its very rich? this is what was in nige's settings
  21. to be honest the map i got from nige which i'm presuming isnt toooo far away from the one you might have isnt too bad at all. i thought the same as you to start with tooo rich. maybe in some area's it is but other no. every engine is different remember... Once i put the pipe in the right place, retimmed the engine and started it (ran so much better and i had idle) i went for a auto tune drive. then logged it using mega tune, analyzed it burnt new map to ecu that made a big difference, then went for another drive using auto tune and its just getting better and better. From only doing a couple of logs / autotunes, i feel a massive difference from efi system to megsquirt. the truck is a rocket. I thought it ran pretty well on efi but anything over 60 / 70 was extremely hard work and felt like i was joy riding her.... but since megasquirt and a couple of maps and trying to hit as many buckets as i can a couple of good long accelerations tonight the truck hit 100mph!!! i was shocked.. before people panic i live on the IOM (no speed limits outside built up areas) the general pottering, the acceleration, the engine braking (auto) are so so superior to the old efi unit. like i say this is only on the second log and auto tune etc... considering saturday i was in the exactly same position as Tom to this i think is pretty remarkable. for me, learning all the other side of things too now, warm up enrichment,, cold start, PWA settings is now coming into the equation I really suggest you get things up to date, timing is critical, use the map nige has given you. should run just ok, auto tune for around 20 minutes or longer driving every single style you can.... save that. then log it and analyse it... run megalog viewer and do the deeds on that and go again... you should see a massive improvement.. This is purely what i have done and i'm a beginner with MS...
