  1. You probably wont have a rear mmount on the right...i didnt. I used some metal wire looped around the box and then went through the supports under the boot to attach it too. You;ll see wjat i mean when you get under there
  2. try chamfering the edges of the pads it should help aliviate the problem, or just dont go backwards
  3. There is the scottish off road driving centre in glentarkie, just off the A91 before you get to Auchtermuchty. Went there with my cousin who lives in Auchtermuchty before he got rid of his landy. Not sure what arrangements there are for using it. Look for the "mad on mud" club which uses it aswell. http://www.scotoffroad.co.uk/about.html http://www.glentarkie.co.uk/ Its not locked or anything, we just turned up, signed in and went driving
  4. I remember going with my dad when he wanted to fill a battery for his MG. Think in the end we just went to a garage and they did it for us there and then. There was a bit of spillage which was wiped up with a towel. a couple of days later and the towel was no more, just lots of little bits
  5. Yeah the induction noise does sound a bit unneccasary. I do you mean sorting out the enigne breathers? how should i go about doing it?
  6. ah ok, so blank them off, link them together or even put the crankcase breathers back on
  7. You refering to the dizzy or to the boy racer chav filters! So we're thinking its a pretty early engine, possible HC. Is there a way of seeing whether its a high compression engine or not without the engine no. ... which i cannot see on it anywhere? I do know that the carbs need balancing and the mixture sorting out as it doesnt like full throttle. My mate has a balancer so he's going to put me straight on these things as im used to oil burners. the car also came with a remote oil filter and mogul cooler attached, but not plumbed in. With the part that goes where the existing filter assembly goes, should there be some sort of gasket? Thanks James
  8. Well i've just had another look and it has a purposeful looking flat bit on the back by the flywheel, slightly to the passenger side and guess what? theres no number If it is on the side of the block near the dipstick (not me ) would it be above or below the spark plugs. wait thats a stupid question. It would be below the plugs as they are on the head. its very tight in the SII engine bay so cant really see anything. I'm not sure if they are the original carbs as it came with another manifold in the back with a weber carb on it??
  9. Hi, I've just got myself a v8 after previously owning several diesels firstly, where abouts is the engine number? Ive heard its near the dipstick but i've been out and couldnt see anything. does anyone have a picture showing it? I appear to have and oil leak coming from there the oil filter housing assembly bolts on. It doesnt look like there is a gaskget between it, should there be? SU carbs. It has a pair of these fitted. Should there be a pipe connecting them both? there are a couple of attachments with nothing on them which could take a hose? Thanks James
  10. I was given one of these http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/product_detail.asp?prod=1957 really good. has a multiposition stand/hook and a couple of those really strong small magnets on the back. Is rechargeable too
  11. theres a lane near dunsfold which he could do in his mog. We got 2 vehicles stuck, one right up to the axles and had to get my mate to rescues both with his unimog
  12. I live near in oxshott. can let you know next time i go out if you like?
  13. I have an electrical problem on me 90 When I put my foot on the brake pedal, all the side lights come on, front and back, aswell as the brake lights?! When I put the side lights on, the brake lights and side lights come on. I'm guessing it could be an earth problem but where should i check?
  14. Did you manage to find what the problem was as mine seems to be doing exactly the same in my 90?
  15. I had a similar problem in my disco until one day i came to reverse out the drive to get to work and found out i couldn't! The problem will most likely be with reverse selector which is bolted on the top of the gearbox. There is a ball bearing and spring inside this which has most likely seized up. They're not hard to replace if you can get to them, i don't know what sort of access you have in a rrc but in my disco i could remove the centre console and get to the top of the gearbox that way. A quick fix is to just remove the reverse selector assembly but bear in mind that your reverse light wont work and it that 1st and reverse are very close and you can easily accidently select revers when pulling off in traffic James
