Motorsprots, Off roading, Greenlaning, having fun, relaxing by my pond watching the fish at night chilling out with a beer.
  1. I would do but for the LPG tank Thanks BTW
  2. I have recently fitted new wheels and tyres but i can not get the spare in the back so i have toyed with the idea of fitting the spare on the roof. I do not want a roof rack and i deffo do not want to fit the spare on the bonnet. can anyone advise me on what i will need to do to fit it please Here is my idea, if anyone has a better idea i am all ears. I thought about fitting a 250mm square plate to the bonnet with four bolts securing it to the roof and weld two bolts to this plate spacing them for two bolt holes, does this sound OK?
  3. [quote Are these per change deflex pushes and the top of the rear dampers? If so don't bother. If you have the later type of mounts which hold the bushes on with a nut you can force them in, but I wouldn't recomend it. It makes the joint so stiff you are asking for this to happened This was a friends 90 after he forced on some delfex bushes and it wasn't a one off, he had manged to rip the eye of the top of the other damper as well. Yes they are the one's. I have now decided to leave them anyway, i could not get the bottom nuts off the rear shocks and gave up on the top front ones when i fell off the wing Now i have got the lovely job of removing the steerin box, oh deep joy
  4. I have over the last two weeks been working on my RRC and today I started it for the first time in that two weeks, For some reason it decided to spit out it's fluid! now I know its not any of the cables and I can comnfirm it's not coming from where the shaft enters from the steering wheel. but for the life of me I can not see where it is coming from? It appears to be from between the bottom of the pump and the chassis? Now with me doing all what I have done lately I am totally gutted to put it mildly but in the back of my mind I am thinking it needs to be replaced? one thing I noticed in the how to was a bleed nipple? not on my one? if there is I'll be damned if I can see it! Is it worth buying a secondhand one or should I go for a recon one? are these a common problem? Do they last long etc? Thanks guys
  5. Over the last week i have been pulling my RRC to bits and correcting certain problems and bits i was not happy with, so far i have moved the ECU to under the dashboard, sealed the ABS unit, moved the CD player from drivers side to middle and sorted out the wiring, fitted CB to on top of the dash rather than it being sat in the void under the heater controls, ripped out all of the foam from the floors, filled all of the holes and cleaned the floors off, hamerited all of the floors, cleaned the inside as it was completely covered in mud. replaced 7 fuses and found out that the central locking works and both the front seats work! I have also cut out the drivers side wheel arch's and lipped them with door trim rubbers. removed the front springs and swapped them around as she was leaning over (try it out anyway) started to fit the polybushes to the front shocks (what a sod) still got tops to do! not sure how yet! fitted my new shock turrets that i brought over a year ago. charged the battery. I have enjoyed myself soo bloody much just playing about with it and with being under no pressure to get it done by a set time and having a bit of ME time. Tomorrow i have got to finish off by fitting the other polybushes, adjusting front and back wheel bearings. swap over rear springs, fit new pads on the rear, secure the LPG bits and make the spots work! I have ordered a full set of door seals that i got from Rimmers, full set for £60. Not sure why i have posted this lot but i have only just come in from the drive and noticed it was 9.45pm!!! covered in carp but HAPPY
  6. I have decided after playing all day on her to leave the ABS unit under the passenger seat. I have sealed it all with silicon. the fuses and relays have been covered in grease and it has all got wet before so we will wait and see. Thanks for any help you guys have given me but i think i am going to wait until i need to change the rear oil seals and bearing as the rear sensors are stuck hard!
  7. I can not see what the ends are like as the plug is a sealed unit and covered with a rubber shield that is glued.
  8. The cable is the same size as cb radio arial wire, its Black and there are two of them, thats as much as i can discribe them. i would take a picture of the cable but i don't have my camera about.
  9. Great, do you know where i can buy some?
  10. I have today stripped out the inside of my RRC as i needed to move the ECU, ABS unit and the radio. So i removed all of the lower dash to expose the heater controls as i only get one speed! I have moved the ECU to under the dash where the aircon was. I tried to site the ABS unit to the same place but there are two wires from the rear ABS sensors and the cables are not long enough to move the unit! Can i cut these wires and join them or do i need to change the wires entirely? does anyone know if the cables are like tv arial cable? Can i remove the ABS ? will she pass an MOT if i do? any help would be great. Thanks
  11. I have now moved the ECU up to under the dash where the aircon unit was, just need to sort out the wires for the ABS unit and i can move that up as well. Why they put so many fuses and relays under the seats, god only knows
  12. I know i won't stop the leaks, i just need to slow them down abit! Mind you, now that i have found the other leaks and holes, i think i have slowed it enough for now but i do need a new set. I contacted Keith but as yet i have not heard anything back
  13. I am at your peril again guys. I am hopefully buying new wheels and tyres. I have found some 33.12.50x15s fitted to 10 x 15 silver Modulars. the tyres are MASTERCRAFT COURSER MT's. I do not know anyone who has got any of these and have not heard of them myself. Does anyone know if they are any good? they are advertised in land rover monthly and they can be found on www.silverline4x4.com I await your experience and knowledge
  14. I have moved the ECU today along with the relays. when i started cleaning out the mud i noticed the ABS unit under the other seat! if i placed a tiny bit of silicon over the hole, can i leave this unit under the seat? I know that i will have to place all of the relays and fuses in a plastic box but the ABS units is too complicated. The other problem i found was that the rubber seal where the ABS wires enter the floor has perished. How do i remove the sensors from the rear hubs? I have order a manual so won't be asking all of these questions soon, i promise
  15. After a long weekend in Wiltshire getting very wet and Muddy I have had to take out the mats and soundproofing from inside of the Beast today. The water just kissed the underside of the ECU so i was lucky there My door seals have started to split and its appears that they have shrunk . If i get a secondhand set i am just delaying leaks a little longer but i can not find anywhere that sells new door seals? Can anyone point me in the right direction please
