  1. Hi All, I would like to track where my Series IIA 1-Ton 109" Land-Rover comes from. Where on the Chassis can I locate the Chassis Number as the one on the Registration papers seems to be one that was assigned when it was imported and does not tie up to what it should be IMHO? Thaks alot.
  2. Oh Cr@p! were the people ok as that does not look good. Lucky my son and I were in my Series IIA when I rolled her just before Christmas. Did not crumple that much. Then Again I was offroading and Not on the motor way
  3. Hi All, I burnt out another live wire or something today just reversing my Landy out the Garage to take her for a late afternoon stint. Just read some of the other threads about rewiring a series vehicle etc... Wiring and Instrumnent Voltage Regulator I saw the wiring diagram posted by Tiago Carvalho from Lisbon on the latter link and it is for a 2.25 4cyl diesel Negative Earth. I got a few questions if I may: I have a Negative Earth Setup. Will this diagram work for my Series 2A with Transplant Diesel RD28 Engine... (Still has Glow Plugs and Alternator... And a few pick-ups for pressure and temp etc.) Or should I use this one? Land Rover Electrical Wiring Diagrams Once I have this established, I will ask some more questions as the Diagram Legend changes its numbering between the two pics. Thanks alot.
  4. I also just heard about it, was flicking throught he SAT channels to see the program etc and nothing! Imagine a world with no &^$@# terrorists & murderers and the like... that would be like asking my Landy not to leak.
  5. I have a silly question really: Does it have the body cover over the gearbox and does this have the Spring and spring holder in place under the yello knob? And if these are in place it is still not disengaging when pulling the red lever back and forward again?
  6. Thanks for the CSW info.... Yes it is a Station Wagon but only a 3 Door. Thanks for the Safty belt info, I see what is meant, I think it will be too much of a mission... I will get my PUP Cab and install normal belts... Then get someone to build a really good Roll Bar. Thanks alot to all for the assistance...
  7. I have not opened the box today so am Not sure about the Syncro hub, But it is new (only about 2 weeks old.) I think I found the issue... The Pressure plate seems to have 1 rivet that has come loose. (Collapsed) Could this cause the noise if things are not pressing straight maybe the bearing being pushed skew could cause the noise? Clutch seems to have got a little hurt and burnt and the Thrust Bearing seems ok, however, I will replace again now that it is open (Again) I read somewhere on these forums that one could use the clutch plate from a LR 130 in the Series? Is this right? It looked more heavy duty with 3 extra springs etc... Maybe worth doing if it will work....
  8. Thankfully, that is your opinion... I love my Series and Would not part with her...
  9. Santa Arrived a little early for me this year, as I got my first Land Rover! A 1970 Series IIA 109 Safari, (a Pick Up Coverted to a full canopy) Then my wife Maxine (Santa) got me a new Roof rack for the Landy... Then I went on a long Weekend camp out in the Bush... Was Very Great! Then I came Back and went to a 4x4 Trail and Rolled Her?!!! Idiot! The Roof Rack is History and the Canoppy is bent. Oh well, she is now canopyless (Want to turn her back into a Pickup.) Also removed the door tops... She actually looks sexy like this now.... Thanks Santa! Its been a good one!
  10. Not sure what Type of Gearbox I have, all I know is that it is a Crash Box Series IIA Box. As for the UNSAFE WORK PRACTICE... I tried it but had to squirt the Petrol into the Chamber on top as one can view the FlyWheel from underneath the truck as it is not a sealed unit. So cannot fill it. My dad mentioned that they also used to do this trick in the old days aswell... I suppose it nneds to be filled with Petrol to work correctly as the squirting did nor really help as the noise was still there when I put the LR into Gear and moved forward... A Horrible noise really. Funny, It does not do it in Neutral? Strange? To my mind the Bearing is not under Load when in Gear and Niether in Neutral so it should make the noise in both situations...? Anyway, I decided to pull the box again and take a look see.... Everything is loose now only after 2 or so hours.. (Getting better at it) now I need an Engine Hoist or Pully for the Garage Roof to list the Gearbox a little then I can pull it back. Can only get tomorrow as everything is still closed today.... Thanks for the help/
  11. Yes the belts that are attached to the seat. But now with the replies I got, It seems very uncomfortable. Especially to the few 4x4 days I have been to, one is in and out of the truck to view and walk the obstacle so bucket type seats with 3 pount harness could be painful. Will see if there is mounting points in the Pick up cab when I get my hands on one. then just install normal ones. Thanks for the help. Is my 109 a CSW? Sorry for the ignorance but what does CSW stand for?
  12. Hi, Since my little Accident, I been thinking of changing my LR back to a Pick Up. (PUP) as my better half will probably never go 4x4ing with me after I put the LR on her roof anyway. The Landy has no Roof now as I took the canopy off as it is a bit bent out of shape... Not too bad but enough to peeve me off. I have also removed the window sections from the doors and she actually looks pretty nice withought the window sections, might leave those off aswell... So I am wondering if anyone has plans / suggestions / advise for a roll bar or Roll Cage for a Pickup? Once I get the Cage Built, I can send her in to get a canvas top made that will pull over the roll cage thus enclosing her again should I want to go on longer trips. Was also wondering about safety belts... Do I get Seats with Cross Belts built in and ensure they are bolted down well or do I install standard Seat Belts? Thanks
  13. Hi There, After I had the "little" roll over in my Series LR there seems to be a very noisy something coming from the bell housing area I think. Could diesel have dripped onto the Thrust bearing while she was on her roof thus causing a very dry and noisy bearing? Or maybe it is not seated correctly anymore? She is slipping quite badly through all the gears. I replaced the Pressure plate, clutch and Bearing about 3 weeks ago and it was all fine.
  14. Landy Now after I spent the day Removing the trashed Roof Rack, slightly damaged Canopy and cracked Windscreen. Doors removed aswell as they seem to not fit so great when closed now? Will have to check... Might restore her back to a PUP? Any Comments / Ideas? Need to replace Windscreen panes, 2 Windows in the Canopy and very minor panel beating in the canopy above my head. Rebuild the Roof Rack as it is bent out of Shape (FUBAR) After lying on her back (Roof) for 3 days, I still managed to fill the the tank under my seat from the rear tank. Not Bad. As I thought she had leaked all the Diesel out. Removed All 6 Glow Plugs, (Glow #3 broke off in the sleeve, but with brute force it came out) Turned the Key for a few seconds (+-20) to let Oil Rockets fly over my car port like bullets from the glow plug holes.... Reinstalled Glow Plugs. Filled Radiator. Checked Oils. Warmed Glow Plugs and Bob's your uncle, she started first Time... She Smoked like an old trooper for about 20 minutes then she was fine. In fact, she feels like she drives better than before... Maybe everything is well lubed up now.... Will start putting all the bits back tomorrow to get her fully functional again....
