  1. Thanks chaps. It's something I've not checked as I know the previous owner has fitted a cross drilled gear. I thought worn splines here wouldn't have produced so much vibration?
  2. My 200 is making some funny noises. It's when I'm on a light throttle into the overrun, the transmission bangs and vibrates. I've checked both propshafts and they are in good order, all the joints are fine with no play or stifness. The difflock is not on and I can feel no play in the flanges the propshafts connect to. I can feel the vibration through the transfer box gear stick but can feel very little through the main gearbox stick. The main gearbox is quiet with superb gear changes, even into secind when cold! I've come to thinking the transfer box is the culprit. I ran without the rear prop attached last week for a few miles and with the difflock on, the noise was horrible! Am I thinking the right way by a finger pointing at the transfer box?
  3. Ebay might be your best bet for a second hand seat, buy a passenger side one which will have less wear. Everything is a straight swap. I bought a full set of seats from the 'bay for £14
  4. I've heard a few horror stories regarding EBC stuff, like the pads wearing very quickly and the drilled discs cracking. The standard stuff is cheaper and more reliable, but you pays ya money etc......
  5. I have a badly rotted one on the off-side axle, is a repair piece available or is it a fabrication job?
  6. On the back of this post, how does one tell what size swivel seal is needed (either 8mm or 12.5mm) without pulling the hub apart?
  7. The bit from the steering column to the steering box, which way round does it go? Mine has the rubber coupling at the column end but the pukka Land Rover workshop manual has it the other way round. Not that I'm doubting the box you understand
  8. I need a pipe for the aircon please http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=25400
  9. My Disco 200TDi is in need of suspension bushes, I'm undecided on either original rubber replacements or going over to urethane. I'm thinking of the Deflex Orange one's from Paddocks. The plastic type seem more expensive but am I correct in thinking they last longer and are easier to fit?
  10. Fan? What is this strange thing you talk of? I don't even have one, well I do, it's in the garage somewhere..........
  11. Been wondering for a while where the slight coolant drip I've been seeing was coming from, it was weird because the drip appears half way along the gearbox! Looks like its the core plug at the rear of the engine on the block below the head. Nice. 50p part but the lump has to come out to replace it So, is this a common leak spot and does anybody have a decent picture of this area? I thank you!
  12. It's the one on the chassis, not the axle mounting point. I've done an axle mount before and as you say it's dead easy
  13. It must be catching! Mine is a '92 4 door with aircon. Big problem is the O/S rear spring seat on the chassis is badly rotted and no one seams to supply a replacement! I've been told a Def 90 one can be adapted, anyone been there with this?
