    I used to drive Series 3 Land Rovers 25 years ago, and they whined then. I can't say as any I drive now make a different noise.

    12J is just noted as a 2495 90/110 diesel. I've not heard of an 18J, but a 19J is a 2495 Turbo diesel, I believe.
