  1. I'm sure someone will have a clue..... I've sorted the correct paint scheme, basically RAF Blue but what colours would the canvas tilt and seats have been on leaving the factory? Ta in anticipation.

  3. Well I have a lovely pile of new mountings/rubbers for my 86" gearbox, how the hell do they go together????? Picture from manual not a help at all and of course someone stripped the old mountings and chucked them! Thanks in anticipation.
  4. Just about to strip rear axle and replace bearings etc on a series 1 86". Any advice re getting the half shaft off? Many thanks
  5. Next question! Have a series box with the 2A drive with the sealed type of clutch sleeve. The garter spring in the seal has disintegrated, not surprising as packaging of the part looks to have been early sixties. What do forum members think of using without a spring in the seal bearing in mind the earlier ones had no seals at all? Ta in anticipation.
  6. Confused simpleton here! In posession of both engine mounting brackets for 2L S1 engine and 2.25 S2A engine. Which ones do I fit to the 2.25 to mount in the 86"? Ta.
  7. I used to have the same problem. It was my stalk, it was the contacts/wires moving and shorting sorted with new stalk so could be your wiring from however u switch the lights I would suggest?
  8. Hi all Trying to convert my 2 1/4 to 12v. Have removed the 24v genny and have mountings for alternator to go on n/s of engine. Any ideas as to any pulleys that will fit straight on to line up pulley on crankshaft with 7 stud water pump and alternator? Have the military water pump pulley and a civvy one, neither line up with this combination. Any idea gratefully received.
  9. Thanks for all the suggestions. Gearbox out, original LR part fork had broken. The pressed dome for the pivot point had sheared right off and looked like a metal fatigue fracture, not the usual burstng through damage. Friendly independant garage had never heard of one going so quickly or ever seen one that had failed in this manner.
  10. Can anyone suggest a reason for my original LR parts clutch forks being eaten? Standard 200 tdi. When it last went in February had everything replaced between gearbox and engine. Just gone again! Just noticed another thread mentioning adjustment on master cylinder, could it be related? Ta.

    24v 2.25

    Hello chaps. Have a 24v REME recon 2.25 which I am going to change to 12v and put in my series 1. Can anyone tell me what would be the correct spak plugs and the compression ratio as paperworkless aprt from a power check chart. Many thanks.
  12. How do I fit a 2.25 petrol into my 86" S1? Any special bits needed? Using original S1 gearbox. TVM.

  14. Anyone out there able to give me some guidance on what I need to do to swap my expired 2 litre for the ex military 2 1/4 I've just got? What do I need to mate the gearbox clutch etc to the 2 1/4? Ta. Steve
