  1. Hi all, I just had a landrover mechanic to drop the box and fit a new clutch fork and pivot. Later that week i had to take it back to have new master and slave cylinder and damper fitted. I crawled under this morning to check stuff,as you do, and found 2 small plastic tubes with rounded ends hanging down in the engine bay. They run from somewhere near the gearbox but i can't see where exactly. They are small black plastic tubes. Any ideas would be appreciated. (breather tubes possibly) Thanks in advance
  2. Hi all Had a coming together with a rather low multi story car park ( three floors ok 4th floor 9inches lower ) Result completely knackered roof including alpines. Has anyone out there ever replaced the rear roof section or knows of a roof panel manufacturer. A real bummer as disco is a goodun, too good to scrap. Thanks all. Great forum, used many times for top dollar infoe.
  3. Hi Go to RJS landrover spares on the net. Then have them on offer for £14.20 plus VAT. I ordered two yesterday one for each side as both of mine had come unwelded. Good luck
  4. Hi all Both front window winders have fallen apart Spot welds gone on the toothed quadrant. I am going to buy 2 new ones from RJS landrover spares as they have a offer on. They want MA numbers to identify the correct model. Where can i catch sight of these numbers Cheers
  5. Try running another earth cable from the block to battery earth. My 300 tdi manual did all this and after months of parking on hills just in case I needed to bump her. I had another earth cable made up to run from the battery earth to the air con block and never looked back. Just a thought and easy to try with a couple of crocodile clips and a piece of cable. Good luck
  6. Hastings Direct 10,000 miles ayear,fully comp.RH14 POST CODE.£226.89
  7. Cheers for the replies. Took the battery to my local battery palace and had it load tested and guess what its OK. Probably got away with it because it is a refillable one and not a maintenance free one,(ie not sealed.) The suppliers of the alternator reckon the diode pack is us and a new one is on the way. Will fit tommorrow and let you know the result. Thanks again
  8. Hi all I took my disco for a run on sunday and the battery boiled. I let it cool and refilled it and put it on trickle charge . It now reads 13.68 volts disconnected. I take it its nackered. The alteranor and battery are only 16 months old. I am getting 14.6ish volts when ticking over across battery terminals. Is there a seperate voltage regulator or is it in the alternator. Has anyone got any ideas b4 I go and buy a new battery and alternator. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi all Some time back I had a new set of tyres fitted. The other day I noticed that the front passanger side tyre was wearing on the outside edge as though the tracking was out, only the drivers side is ok. The tyre place checked the tracking and said it was 4 deg toe in but could not adjust because of a siezed adjuster bar. Has anyone got any ideas as to the uneven wear. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi Discojason, If you can see rust on floor from the OUTSIDE lift the back carpet and sound proofing and check the inside. Probable new floor required. If there is rust on the inner wings again more grief, had to have both jobs done on mine. You really need to ivestigate the rust issue Be careful
  11. Hi I replaced my boot floor and cross members with parts from Paddocks. I used large headed pop rivets for the cross members and Tech bolts for the edges. It passed without a mention. But I had already asked the original test centre if this would be OK and they said NO IT HAD TO BE WELDED. Seems like a dodgy area to me.
  12. Hi all, A strange noise started today,(nothing new there then). I tracked it down to the alternator pully. When I removed the belt the pully seems to have disintegrated in the middle. The nut holding it in place is tight but the pully is blowing in the wind and is rubbing on the alternator housing. Will I have to get a new alternator or just a new pully. Its the large 61mm pully whats the best and quickest place to get one LR want £27.00 plus vat. Thanks in advance Keep it up.
  13. I did mine with parts from paddocks(cross members floor pan) and pop rivets undersealed and it went through OK.
  14. Hi all again, Just replaced rear floor with help from you guys (thanks again). Is removing and resealing the alpine lights an easy job or just a pain in the a$*. Can you buy new rubber seals anywhere. Thanks in advance
  15. Hi all, Heres one for you, Can anyone shed some light on why my rev counter suddenly goes haywire when I turn on my lights and why it dances in time to my indicators. I'm sure someone out there will have had the same experience. Thanks in advance.
  16. Hi all I managed to get two strips of steel folded to the correct measurements for the side strips. I undercoated and hammerited everything in site. I used hex headed Tech screws to fit the side strips and large headed 4.8mm pop rivets everywhere else. Another coat of hammerite on the inside and a good dose of underseal sprayed underneath. Took it to be MOT'd It FAILED. Because the HORN didn't work. I can live with that. Thanks for everones help. Back on the road again.
  17. Hi all, Can anyone suggest the best way to repair the side lips in the boot area when replacing the boot floor. I have just stripped my floor out and the damage to the side lips is quite extensive. I took some pics of a completed floor replacement to a local mot station and they told me that pop rivets and bolts would not pass the test. Appreciate the help and advice. Thanks in advance
  18. Hi all I am just about to tackle the replacement boot floor before it gets too bad. I have seen a replacement project on another landrover forum (sorry) where the boot floor has been fitted with a seies of 4.8mm large head pop rivets. It looks like a pretty good job. Is there any reason for MOT purposes that I cannot use this method. Thanks in advance
  19. Hi Guys and Gals. Has anyone got an idea why the rear door lock on my 300 tdi won't now unlock on the button. I have had the unit out and when i press the zapper button the unit shunts up and down but will not stay in the up position. I have to climb over the back seat, hold the button up and open the back door manually. Is the unit U/S or is there an easy/cheaper explanation. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hi cipx2 This fix was great, carried it out to the letter and it works brilliantly. Thanks for the 5x info. trogers.
  21. Hi all Can anyone tell me if you can buy the nylon rollers that run along the tracks of the electric window mechanism. Mine decided to self destruct screwing the arm in the process. I managed to straighten the arm out and push the middle back into the roller but only a temp job. I hope I don't have to replace the whole mechanism. Thanks in advance.

  23. Hi all, What a bummer I just went to my local sainsbury store and when I returned to the landy I tried to open the door with the buttons to no avail. I opened it with the key to get in and the alarm went off . Half a dozen tries later I gave up and ran a lead from the battery to the starter solenoid to start the motor and get me home with the little key light on the dash flashing all the way. Once home I located the emergency number and tried to reset things doing the the lock and unlock procedure the correct amount of times. My problem is ( got there in the end) that after I reset and open the door the alarm goes of again. Has anyone got an idea what i'm doing wrong. Cheers in advance
  24. Hi I think (don't know 4 sure) if you have a proper earth strap made up and connect from battery neutral to engine block it overrides all other earth connections. It worked for me 100%
