I think ill fabricate some tapered ends when that time comes As for the light clusters, Im ok (FOR NOW) cheers, i could do with a set of spot lights tho If you can help Cheers Chris

  4. Cheers for the reply... i dont mind putting my hand to a bit of fabrication... was only after advice... Im considering butchering the original and fabricating ends for the winch bumper. We will see... I like the look at what you have done with yours, but because of the a frame i cant mount this underneath the vehicle like i said... this is my first Rangie project...
  5. I have a 89 Range Rover Classic 3.5 Efi... The vehicle had a few problems in the last year and i ended up changing the fuel pump relay and the AFM to get the car to start without easy start. The vehicle is now running really rich and drinking fuel like its free... I do have another coolant temp sensor and have tried this without fitting it and it doesnt seem to make much difference. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct my fuel consumption. I believe that AFM's are adjustable and can be altered to adjust the signals given to the ECU... i do not have a smokemeter to be able to do this... is there any way that this can be done... CHEERS, Chris
  6. I am in the middle of a range rover classic project (my first) and have just bought a new bumper for it. The winch bumper is only the winch bracket part with a bar across the top. (see pictures). I was just wondering if this is legal on its own as it is not as wide as the vehicle. If the bumper is illegal and does need to be as wide as the vehicle. Can these extensions be bought or will i have to fabricate them from scratch. Cheers Chris
  7. We use stuff called Avtur (aviation fuel) which can be mixed with a lubricating oil to give the fuel its lubricating properties back. It can be used as a 50/50 mix with diesel too but not advised in anything worth much value. Just thought id let you know...
  8. Looks like a top project, just wish i had the space to get something like this done. Instead of working out of a one car garage ha Good luck on this one... sounds like a brave effort...

  10. Hello everyone, Wonder if anyone can help. Im in the middle of refurbing a 89 Range Rover Vogue. Its a slow process but its going ok. I am looking for a new front bumper, and am thinking of making my own. I was wondering if anyone has any detailed drawings of a decent off road bumper to fit this vehicle. Id really appreciate it as i could get to making it myself. Cheers everyone Chris
  11. Merry christmas!!!!! Im after some more advice im after some opinions on this if you dont mind... My 3.5 efi range rover is not starting on its own... it will start with the use of easy start and runs OK, but even after a long run out, if the i turn her off she again wont start unless the spray is used... if anything its more embarassing having to dive under the bonnet every time i need to start the car!!! Also the car is drinking a ridiculous amount of fuel... maybe 1 or 2 mile to the gallon... When starting she coughs and splutters a little but sounds ok... i have increased the idle speed a little as without doing this she wont run at idle... I was wondering if there could be a problem with either the automatic choke being stuck on or off as i was having bad problems with her flooding... or whether my timing could be out slightly... i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or remedies for my problem and what i can do to improve my fuel consumption... Any suggestions are much appreciated... cheers chris

  15. haha... well i dont wanna insult anyone with my lack of knowledge... suppose ya gotta start somewhere eh Do you think it will look soft with chunky tyres on but not raised... i have seen one of the members vehicles... (TUFFSTUFF) hope they dont mind me mentioning them... and what they have done with theres is kinda what im looking for... i agree that removing the side steps will look better... like i say, im just looking for ideas... where can i get my hands on the modded front bumper with the recovery points etc anyway, cheers bishbosh for your msg Chris
  16. How do... Wonder if you pro's can help me out. Iv recently bought and old 89 rangie (3.5 efi) Auto, iv only bought her for towing cars round and about. To start off with i have had problems with the engine playing up and not wanting to start, but after a few handy tips and hints iv got her running OK, but not perfect yet. Still a few other things im waiting for to get her running perfect. Right enough about that. I love driving this old classic but its too plain for me. Im wanting to spice it up a bit and make it into more of an off roader. I have never really played about with stuff like this before and im wondering what wonderful modifications there are out there. Heres some of the ideas iv had... if you could make some suggestions as to how i can get these done and maybe some other ideas to: Off road wheels and tyres Raised suspension Winch High front Bumper (or original with bull bar) Side Steps Maybe some Chrome Also i was wondering what a performace air filter can do for these types of vehicles... i didnt think they would be much use... any ideas appreciated... cheers Chris
  17. Thankyou all for your ideas, i have managed to get the vehicle running but it is still tempremental... i am going to try a few of the suggestions made (starting with the cheapest).. the car isnt my daily drive so not in to much of a rush to sort it out but it does get used... anyway thankyou all for your help... Chris
  18. Hello folks... i was wondering if anyone could help with a problem i have... I bought an old Range Rover a few months back, was a decent looking and running motor when i bought it. I only planned on using it for towing other cars around as i do alot of this. She was running fine when i first got her (apart from using a ridiculous amount of fuel), but after leaving her standing for a few weeks, she decided not to start and ended up flooding. The vehicle is a 1989 Range Rover Vogue, 3.5 litre V8 petrol... I took the plugs out, cleaned them and left them over night. On returning to her in the morning... i replaced the plugs etc etc.... and she started first time. I left her running for a while to clear any excess, but once i put her into drive... pfftt she cut out and wouldnt start again... once again the plugs were soaked and she was stinking of fuel... there is a decent spark... but i am putting new coil, plugs and leads on (as i got them for free) Also considered checking the coolant temp sensor... I am not very clued up on these vehicles if honest... and am a diesel fitter... but aint bad with petrols... if anyone can help me with this id appreciate any comments... cheers for your time folks Chris
