  1. Thanks That would be great if you could get some pictures
  2. Thanks but was after some pictures of one fitted to a 90 so I can see where the brackets are fitted to the chassis
  3. Hi Has anyone got any pictures of how a 200tdi exhaust mounts to the chassis please? I have got a na chassis and want to fit a 200 tdi exhaust with my 300tdi engine conversion
  4. No I did not remove the clutch fork
  5. Would it be the clutch fork moving without the bearing or should I check for something else before I take the engine back out. The clutch when down as normal the first time, then the pedal just went light
  6. Thank you both for that. Just what I was after
  7. Just doing an engine swap on my defender from a n/a to a 300 tdi with an lt77 gearbox. I think the thrust bearing has come of the clutch fork as I can hear the fork moving but I have no clutch. would this be right as had a problem putting the clip on that I assume that hold the bearing to the clutch fork. does anyone have a picture of the clip installed on the clutch fork and bearing please? Thanks andy
  8. I am with Adrain flux and got all my mods covered no problem. I got a quote of the NFU and they were nearly twice as expensive as adrian flux. It also depends how old you are with the NFU as they dont want young drivers so tend to charge them alot more. Also from my experience the NFU will give you a good price if you do alot of business with them ie insure your business with them as well. It all depends what you want your insurance for at the end of the day i.e. if you just want that bit of paper to say you are insured or you want them to pay out if your vehicle is damaged or stolen Andy
  9. There is a good place in stone in staffordshire i can find the number and name if you want. A lad at work used him he was pritty fast. Andy
  10. Hi Have just put a 200 tdi engine out of a disco in to my defender and was wondering if the LT77 gear box out of the disco was worth keep as a spare for my defender as iknow they have some differences. Also if not how much would the gearbox be worth to sell please. Andy
  11. I would go to the scrap yard and get an electric fan as the one on the disco lump hits the steering box. I used one of a ford mondeo and an xeng thermo switch witch was alos usefull for putting a join in the top hose. I used som metal pipe to extend my intercooler and rad hoses. You will need some crimp on ring terminals for the alternator wires. When i put my engine out of the disco on to my lt77 in my td i did not change the bellhousing on the disco, so i had to drill out some holes and tap them they were M10 i think. There were 4 holes they are already there they are just not the right diameter or tapped. You also need to take out the two dowles in the disco bell hosing mine pullled out. You are always welcome to come and have a look at mine its in shropshire. Andy
  12. What i did with my power steering high pressure pipe wa to get someone to weld the 19j end on the end of the 90 degree steel pipe that comes out out the pump. That way if yo ever get a damaged pipe you can just replace it with a standard on instead of haveing to get one made up. Also when i went to the hydraulics place they did not have the fittings that would go in to the pump as they said they were just for automotive. But they should be able to extend the flexible hose for you. Andy
  13. Not sure of the exact time it took as i was doing alot of jobs to the landy. Would say it took about 1/2 a day to take it out and about 1 day to swap everything over and put it back in. You may also find when you are doing this job that your outriggers need replacing.
  14. hi Do not now where there are any good threads for this, but this is a brief overview of how i did it on my g red td. First lable up all your pipes and wires. Disconnect all pipes (clutch and brake) and wires going to the engine and wings. Take of the front grill and metal work, then take of the wings, i found it made it eaiser if you take the air intake out of the wing so you can get at the bolts that hold the wings on. Take the floors out and the transmission tunnel. You need to lossen all the bolts that hold the roof on to get the winscreen out as it has dowels going into it from the bulkhead. Take the winscreen out. You then need to undo two nuts on each of the sills that atacth to the bulkhead they are ment to be captive but usally spin. Undo the nut and bolt on the steering uj and remove the bolt. There are four bolts that need removing that go through the footwells on to brackets on the chassie. Then remove the two long bolts that go through the out riggers. The bulkhead should then just lift out. When removing all of the wiring i kept the dash pannel, fuse box and steering colum atached so i did not have to unpluge any of the wires that went to these. I had to bend a bracket that went round the steering colum and remove it so i could pull the steering colum through the bulkhead. Hope this helps and that i have not forgot to much. andy
  15. Hi Have just put a 200 tdi in my td. If you are not going to change the gear box you can just take the engine out by undoing all the nuts on the bell housing. Then the two engine mounts amd pipes and electrics. You just have to drill and tap out 4 holes in the disco bell housing to get the td box to fit (smaller holes are allready there). You would not have to take the seat box out as the chassie crossmeber can be unbolted so the gear box drops down through the chassie if you were to take the engine and box out as one. Andy
  16. Thanks for that have wired it up now. Andy
  17. Hi Changing my engine in my TD to a disco 200 tdi and just want to make sure that the two big brown wires that are separte on the TD alternator ar joined together on the disco one, i.e the both go on the same ring terminal. And the small brown and yellow on the TD goes to the brown and white ring terminal on the disco alternater. Is the white wire on the disco alternator on the spade connector for the rev counter. Thanks Andy
  18. Thanks Its a TD was reconed about 40000 miles ago so should not be knakered yet i hope.
  19. Hi My dads 110 turbo diesel 1990 has oil in the turbo and loads of oil in the air cleaner there is also a large amount of oil on the top of the engine. Think it is engine oil in the turbo. Does anyone know what the cause of the oil in the turbo could be. Thanks Andy
  20. Hi I would not worry about it if it is the only fault. Probbaly a bad earth as said above. Water could have got in if it has been parked up causing corroision. It may be that both bulbs have gone often i have found that the contacts get dirty on the bulbs and just need cleaning to make them work again. The bulb and lense unit are only about £5 each so not alot if they need replacing. The earth for the rear indecators on my 90 is under the gaurds in the cornes behind the lights inside the rear tub. If there is a trailer light plug fitted you could always try that to see if the indecators on the back work and stick a trailer board on to drive the truck home. Andy
  21. Thanks very much for this info. I think i will be going for a Mondeo fan when i get round to putting in my 200tdi. Thanks again Andy
  22. Hi I know of two people how have had the 2.8 turbo engines out of isuzu tropers and they have both now taken them out and put in landrover tdi engines. They both comented that the fuel consumption was similar to that of a landover. Andy
