  2. My fuel gauge on my 200tdi has stopped working. I was wondering if I can get to the tank sender unit without removing the tank from the vehicle. What I am really asking is there a cover plate in the boot area that can be removed for access. Thanks for any help. Phil
  3. I had one explode a few years ago. I had left the ignition turned on. It sure makes a mess. Phil
  4. Now sorted. i got a new belt from Dunsfold and it was 3 3/8"(thats 85mm) longer than the GFB40995 belt (which is the Unipart equivalent). Fitted easily. A big thanks to Dunsfold Land Rovers and everybody who replied. Thanks Phil watson.
  5. Well I removed the dynamo, I can just manage to get the belt in the dynamo groove. But no chance what so ever of refitting the dynamo bolts, it no way near. I think the belt that I removed was split because it had been to tight. I have been to Fenners who specialise in belts, and there is none anywhere near this size, they are all a lot longer. Could the pulleys be too big? Any ideas please. Surely people haven't struggled like this for the last fifty years. Phil
  6. I have a 1956 86" series 1, it has the 2 litre petrol engine and dynamo fitted. I am trying (without any success) to fit a new fan belt. The belt that came off is the same as the one going on, it has GFB 40995 marked on both of them. I think this is a Unipart number for this model. I struggled getting the old belt off even though it was stretched and badly split, and the dynamo is as far back as possible. The new belt just does not look long enough, it could do to be an inch or two longer. Is there a method of fitting them other than brute force, because i have already tried that. Or is there a longer belt that is available. Thanks Phil

  19. I lost my computer due to a lightening strike, I now have a new and faster machine, but unfortunetly all my contact details are on the knackered machine. Could somebody please PM me Bill Shurvintons contact details, (I am a few nylon screws short in my megasquirt kit, and I can't source any locally). Thanks Phil Watson
  20. I am fitting an EFi Flapper manifold onto a 3.5 carb engine, (Going to be megasquirted eventually). but I have a few questions if anybody can please help me? What is the arrangement of the coolant pipes that run underneath the inlet manifold. On the carb manifold that I have, one of the pipes just runs front to back from the water pump to the heater matrix, that is the same as on my Efi manifold. But the other pipe on my carb manifold runs from the water pump, connects into the manifold cooling system, and then exits further back to connect into the heater matrix, but on my EFI manifold it runs from the water pump to the manifold cooling system, but there is no exit pipe, but there is a screwed in blanking plug where I would have expected to see the pipe exit the cooling system. Am I thinking correctly that this plug needs to be unscrewed and a pipe fitted into it. If this is right, would this pipe be a spare part or something I would need to cobble together. Also I need the breather canister that is fitted to the front of the left hand (from the front) rocker cover, is this just screwed into the rocker cover. The engine breathing system is a bit different on the carb engine. Thanks for your help Phil Watson
  21. They turn up on ebay quite often Phil
  22. FridgeFreezer, Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of either mounting the ECU on the bulkhead behind the drivers seat or maybe in the cubby box. Which length tail do you think I will need. My vehicle is a 110 3 door. Thanks Phil Watson
