  1. I have searched through all the forums for this and come across similar problems but all are slightly different and the cures have not solved my problem. I have a "01" DHSE P38 wjith the harman kardon sound system and satnav. The satnav screen illuminates but is blank, the sound system does everything it should but no sound, on further investigation the amplifier in the rear behind the trim and sub woofer does not seem to be getting any power. I have checked all the fuses and all are OK. There is static coming from the speakers at a low volume. I am not particularly concerned about getting the satnav working but I do want to get the sound system working. I wonder if anybody might be able to shead some light on the problem or suggest a cure?
  2. Hi Nidge, I drove a 200tdi 90 as a daily drive the only thing I did was put a higher ratio transfer box from an auto RR and tweeked the pump slightly and it made it very quiet several people driving 300's actually commented it was the quietest LR they ever traveled in.
  3. Hi Roel, I have exactly the same problem but parts seem impossible to get, it seems like it would be easier and cheaper get a new locker. Don't know if I would go detroit again though for that reason.
  4. Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by "crowned"
  5. I have a P38 and have replaced the bags with the Dunlop's seem fine. As far as I know the cone on the arnott ones have a different shape cone which make the ride firmer stiff on the lower setting and soft on the highest setting which is opposite to the dunlop ones plus as far as I know there is a guarantee with them. I think I would go with the Arnott ones if I was to do it again.
  6. I am fed up of breaking shafts, CV's etc what would be the best budget option to get the strongest axles possible with lockers under a 90. Nissan GR/80 Series toyota or Ashcroft/maxidrive. My preference would be to stay with strengthened land rover internals but this works out expensive I can get 80 series axles with lockers and do the fitting myself. I really like the look of these Rovertracks but the kits and shipping would work out too expensive has anybody done anything similar here? I would really appreciate some help on this, what have you done? Forgot to mention I don't want to go for ARB air lockers.
  7. This is seriously nice any idea if anybody on here owns it?
  8. How do I set the sun roof on a P38? The windows just hold the switch down for a couple of seconds in each direction but this doesn't seem to work on the sun roof any suggestions?
  9. I have a set of 18" Nexen Roadian 542 on a P38 they are fine have had no problems with them so far they seem to handle fine but I don't know if I would go for them again I cant really say why, I prefer the goodyear wranglers.
  10. Had a search and dont seem to be able to find any previous posts on this subject. does a P38 have a pre-wired loom for a caravan power socket?
  11. tried that but it wont release.
  12. Hi I was just wondering if anybody has had a similar problem with the ignition on a P38. when I remove the key from the ignition the dash display tells me the key is still in the ignition and I cant lock the doors using the button on the key fob I have to physically lock the door using the key. As far as I can see in the ignition their is a white plastic tab which detects if the key is in the ignition and this has stuck. Is it possible to replace this part without having to change the ignition or is it possible to disassemble the ignition to get at this?
  13. I think i remember a post on here with diagrams on how to trim wheel arches does anybody remember seeing it or if anybody has any diagrams on how to do it I would be very grateful. They are 35" Fedimas going on a 90 with aprox a 3" lift would I get away with just the spats or would I need to do the wings as well they are on 8x16 compomotive wheels which have a fairly standard offset I think.
  14. How big a job would it be to convert a 200tdi 90 to auto? I think I have most of the parts, some of them will probably need adapting if so what? has anybody done this already and was the end result worth the work involved?
  15. Just a few of my 200tdi enjoying getting stuck. doesn't happen too often luckily.
  16. Hi that was some journey I wouldn't fancy falling asleep with that load on, I had an experience with a 16' tri axle ifor williams jacknifing and rolling the disco wasn't pleasant. I was looking at buying one of those ex MOD trailers on ebay but I was put off by the weight of it. Would you recommend one or would you advise steering clear?
  17. I would have to agree with nige. Excellent in deep mud off road Price not to bad Wear rate on the road is very good Balance is pretty good when newl Non Directional - one of the main reasons I went for them Not much available out there beats them for grip wear quality handling on the road is very good for such an aggressive tyre I would definately go for another set if I could get them in a larger size.
  18. Personally I would find the detroits far more dependable as arb's always seem to give trouble loosing air, seal's going, pipes ripped off or damaged, electrical problems, etc. detroits don't suffer any of these problems and are always there when you need them.
  19. I have a tdi90 with 34" simex tires and a Detroit limited slip in the front and a locker in the rear I don’t use it too often on the road generally to and from events and I have to say I haven't experienced any problems on the road as long as you keep the tyre pressures correct. I have only experienced the reluctance to turn on a bend once when I was a little over zealous with the accelerator on a bend in the wet. I would definitely recommend this set up off-road.
  20. Mark, Any more on this project? I would be very interested in keeping an eye on progress as I was contemplating exactly the same project myself.
