  1. Hi, Yep, 81500miles is 131240ish KM. Trip to a dealer or Inde with the Rovacom or similar to sort that one i'm picking! Oliver
  2. Hi, Well, mine was completely rebuilt at 138000km. It has done 198000km now and seems ok. A few have gone bang here in NZ(usually behind the 2.5V6) but it is usually people NOT COMING TO A STOP before changing from D to R or the other way round. My 10c Oliver
  3. Aloha all from the sunny south pacific!! Er, has anyone on 'ere (or who have friends that) have had issues with the 4.0l V8 in the DII? I am looking at swapping to my DII V8 and selling my '98 Tdi is all. It has had to have a head gasket but that's hardly a major compared with slipped liners on the V8. The question is..how often do the V8 ACTUALLY go bad? Thank you all in anticipation...
  4. Aloha all! I have a set of aux lamps on my nudge bar that dont go. They use the factory wiring kit with the relay etc by the under bonnet fuse panel. Problem is, there seems to be no earth to either front light. Do we know where the earth for them is? Has anyone had the relay unit fail? Dont be shy!!
  5. Howdy all, I have just bought in Japan a 2000 DII V8. Only problems are: the TC and ABS lights are on. The truck has a flat battery (as in DEAD flat) and the little jump pack they used wouldn't power it up. Now i'm guessing with a fresh battery and a reset these lights could well go out and stay out but if not......where do I look first? Thank you all...I hope....
  6. Howdy all, Something to ponder..... I have a harsh vibration under medium to hard acceleration at 55km/h (31MPH) and it comes in again at 100Km/h (62MPH). SO far we have tried this to no avail: Remove rear prop shaft - problem stays Remove front shaft - problem gone Install brand new front shaft - no difference Dissasemble and check centre diff - all just fine Dissasemble front diff - all fine Checked both CVs and front wheel bearings - all fine Changed the wheels for some from another vehicle - no difference Put the truck on a hoist and run it up to 55 - transfer case starts shaking - engage diff lock and the problem is almost gone. The problem appears at the same speed in low or high range which to my mind rules out the gearbox. It must be from the transfer case on. Where to next?? Any clues?? It is a '98 300Tdi with 80000km.
  7. Hi all, I now 'get' 27/28MPG average with the correct size tyres!! Happy days
  8. Howdy, I would say it would be time to do it again and check that the lower pulley has the 'lip' on it to prevent the belt running off etc.
  9. Howdy!! All those the 300 TDi's front and centre... I have a '98 auto with EDC. I am averaging (urban + country) 23mpg. What y'all getting? Ta B)
  10. Howdy all!! I am on my 3rd Tdi ex Japan where just about all were EDC. The buzzing is the 'inteligent injector' (#4) and the only part that really will give issues. One of mine went west and the replacement was NZ$500 + fitting. Having said that, not too common according to my LR specialist. EDC is good. No worries.
  11. Howdy! If it makes you feel any better I only get 23/24 combined MPG in my 300Tdi with EDC. All mine have been the same too. I have had 3!! I'm wondering if it is an EDC thing as the TD5s get lower MPG than the 300Tdi? Anyhoo...
