  1. Get a Mondeo fan (search). They are basically a direct fit into a 2.5NA radiator and they go in the back. Very easy and the fan is much larger than needed.
  2. They have a different clamp for attaching to a cage instead of the pillar. Through the wing, you cut a hole and the pipe goes through. A hose slips over the pipe inside the wing. Pretty straightforward.
  3. Could someone please post up a picture with part numbers for the TD5 and/or 300TDi tank and mounting bits? I want to see the cost of doing this on a 200TDI. Has anyone actually done it to make sure things can be made to fit? Edit: Ooops, I see it is covered in another thread, forget it then!!!
  4. Umm, no... The cores are different sizes.
  5. As stated, the fan should not normally come on with driving on the road in a TDI, so if you are waiting to see the light, it will be quite a while. The only time my fan runs is off road in the summer.
  6. Just one small point, FYI. If you do add hose, do not use biodiesel. It is not compatible with normal fuel hose. The stock nylon tubing is OK, but hose is not.
  7. They are 5/16" and 3/8" nylon tubing. Normal compression fittings and more nylon tubing are the proper solutions for adding extensions. Cheap and simple and any hose place should have them in stock. You can also just replace the whole lengths by putting new tubing over the banjo fitting by heating. Oil the fitting and heat with a torch (just enough) and push the tubing on. As it cools, it will lock on and not come off.
  8. That depends on the switch. The switches are available with a large variation in the way they are wired. If yours does not have a separate light circuit, you are probably stuck with the way it is working now. If I understood what you did, you should be able to wire it in to allow the light to come on in both manual and auto. The "OFF" position should be manual off. How about you show us how you have wired it and supply information on the specific switch and we can help.
  9. I just updated my page as it was fairly out of date. If you know of other oils to add, let me know. John
  10. Personally, I would not use spray foam. It is difficult to get on thin and consistent. Plus with the vehicle flexing, it will crack and break up over time.
  11. IME... You can get a lot cheaper but higher quality hose from a hose store. The genuine ones are stupidly expensive.
  12. I've had closed cell foam on the roof for years. There are special spray adhesives that you can get. When used, the bond is stronger than the foam (I tested it). It has been so long, I can not remember what it was called. Possibly this stuff, http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_U..._Trim_Adhesive/
  13. Maybe.. But, my experience buying Paddock drums and shoes is they were garbage and vibrated to death.
  14. Most likely a bearing is gone. Check first that the pinion nut is not loose. If it is tight, you have a bad bearing.
  15. Ashcroft was selling new short shaft R380s, but they show out of stock now. I "assume" they are all gone. Couldn't hurt to call.
  16. Yes, be careful. Most aftermarket tachs won't run from an alternator. All VDO models do, but most others do not.
  17. There not very expensive either, at least not here. They are just so much better than the stock ones.
  18. The 8274 came out in 1974 (that is what the 74 stands for in the name...) 8 - 8000 pounds. 2 - two directional, power in and power out 74 - 1974 Prior to that the same basic winch was in production as a power in only version with a manual brake for letting out. Originally called the Belliview winch and was started some time in early 1960s. http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/warn5687.php
  19. YES!!! http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=26010&st=0 Do NOT get AMR5425.... It does not work..... I tried it.... If you do get an AMR4248, please, please post back to let me know that it works and what changes were needed. I want to do this, but it is expensive to bring one over the pond and I can't return it when it does not work.
  20. I purchased a scoop and carefully measured air flow. It reduced air flow. I have not seen one that does not restrict flow.
  21. Same halfshafts and CV joints as a Rover axle.
  22. Time for the glow depends on the temperature. If it does not fire in the first second, you need to give it more glow.
  23. Personally, I would check your battery, cable connections and starter first.... Mines cranks and starts fine. Tested to -40. They like a lot of glow.
  24. It is off road where I find the fan comes on. Lots of driving along with no speed or wind. It comes on every few minutes for 10 seconds. The only time that I saw it come on on road was a very long 12% grade.
  25. I assume the fitting you describe are brass, not copper. Anyway, they are both fine.
