  2. Hello all I have removed my PTO prop shaft assembly and sent it away to be refurbished. Whilst I am waiting, I thought that I could perhaps strip down, lubricated and generally service the winch which the prop drives. I know its a Superwinch but I dont know which model. Would one of the knowledgable people on here be able to give me some advice, perhaps help with the model and if possible, point me in the right direction for a manual for it or an exploded diagram of the winch - possibly a service manual ? I have attached (hopefully) some photographs so hopefully someone has come across this model before. Any and all help will be greatfully appreciated. Cheers Westy
  3. Hi Lars I have been and had a look on your web site - very good kit - but I cannot find any diagrams of where the actual drive is taken from the Landrover from the Transfer Box.   4. Thanks for that John, mine is very similar to the second example, but I need a exploded diagram of the actual internals of the transfer box which actually drives the prop shaft to the winch. Again, thanks for trying to help though. Cheers Westy
  5. Hello all I think I may have caused myself a major headache ......... hopefully one of you more knowledgeable huys can help or give me guidence. The PTO drives a mechanical front bumper mounted winch on my 93 110 Defender 200tdi When I was under the van changing the power steering pump and box, I noticed the carrier bearings on the PTO prop shaft were very worn. Because of this I decided to remove the entire PTO prop and get it reconditioned with new carriers etc.. When removing the prop, I started at the front and worked my way backwards, removing the mounting brackets along the way and undoing the grub screws securing the shafts at each junction. When I got to the last union at the output shaft on the transfer box I found I could not free the prop from the shaft. No mater how much tapping I did, it would not budge. I knew that the output shaft seal wanted changing and so decided to try a little heat on the prop union. Didnt get it glowing red or anything, but it was hot enough to deform the seal - no problems as it is getting replaced - but, as I tapped the prop to free it from the shaft, it just pulled the shaft straight out of the transfer box. Now, here is where I could do with some advice please ........... am I likely to have caused any damage, or is it just a case of aligning back up the shaft with the woodruff key and tapping it back in, or is it a major strip down job ? Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Westy
  6. The drive shaft free floats inside the hub - I can push it in as far as the circlip and pull it out approx 7mm so its definately not that thats holding it in. Thing is, its leaking oil everywhere so I have got to sort that joint out one way or another. Dont know which way to go with this now. Any other ideas ? Cheers
  7. Hello All Could someone please give me some advise as I am stuck and cannot figure out what is wrong exactly. I was out in the bus the other day (110 200Tdi with Salisbury Rear). Whilst out I noticed quite a lot of seap from the joint of the rear drive shaft to hub. Reading the technical forum I confirm my suspicions and so I went out and bought gaskets and plastic caps for both sides. I have come to remove the o/s drive shaft from the axel today and, having removed the 5 17mm studs cannot for the life in me split the drive shaft drom the hub. I have tried shocking it with a hammer and even tried a cold chisel to split them but to no avail. There is a slight sign of movement. I have sprayed around the joint with freeing oil and when I was giving up and replacing the studs, whilst tightening them down it was obvious that the gap (small as it may be) was closing up as some oil was pushed out. So I removed the studs again and began trying to split - no joy. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Westy
