  1. Mine had full MOT and was in great condition when I traded it in. I'd have a lot more money in my pocket now if I'd kept it, that's for sure. I think my Land Rover days are behind me now, unless I can afford a Series 2A to have as a toy at some point. The modern ones cost so much in upkeep, the slightest thing plays up and it's a fortune to fix. Once my current finance on vehicles is paid off, be a Rivian or VW Buzz for me.
  2. Glad to hear you've still got it. 👍 Sadly mine has gone, made way for a Disco 4 which after 3 warranty claims in 5 months I lost £6k on and got a Passat. 😢
  3. I tell you what, whilst it might not be as hardcore as a 110, my god it's delicious to drive. 👍🏼
  4. Just to update you all... With the prices of a CSW and the need for finance rather than having a big pot of cash to blow, we've ended up with this
  5. I absolutely see where you're coming from, but if I'm spunking out almost £40k on a car I want it to be the perfect solution. My missus would never go for not having them in seats either and it's not worth the earache. Yes, we also do distances and the only time we do 30mph is pulling up to a junction... My kids also need restraints to keep them apart half the time, especially when travelling!
  6. Wow, that's interesting. Unfortunately they're 1, 4 and 6 and need seats. I couldn't leave them rattling around on rear benches with no restraint, just asking for trouble.
  7. I think you're probably right. I did love my old 110 though. We'll see.
  8. By the way, the salesman had a nice HSE Disco 4 which he suggested I had instead. Told him I wanted a 110 and the D4 would have to be dirt cheap for me to have that instead. So if I end up with a D4 instead, you'll know why!!!
  9. Hello, Sorry to have not posted, been crazy busy at work. I went to Listers Land Rover on Wednesday and tried my car seats in a 13 plate 110 XS Utility. I wouldn't necessarily have a utility, but the back seat is the same, so fair game. Not a hope in hell of getting them in. They physically fitted, as in you could close the doors, but in all senses of practicality (and safety) just a non-starter. Agreed with the wife that a CSW will be ok and we'll put the eldest in a forward-facing seat in the boot. Just need to find an affordable CSW now! Will let you know how I get on. Thanks very much for the replies and help.
  10. Thanks guys. Yes, I was planning on fitting two forward facing seats eventually anyway to give us a 7 seater, but from the word go it needs to be able to accommodate them on the back seat. It's a bit of a 'strike whilst the iron is hot' situation with the trade-in offer I have on my T6, hence not being absolutely prepared... I'll let you know how I get on once I've tried the child seats for myself. Like Reb said, it could be seat dependent too. Fingers crossed, eh?
  11. Just for information, in case anyone else is in the same position, we tried the car seats in a Disco Sport. Disco Sport is a lot of car for the money, so we had a look and subsequently wasted a lot of the dealer's time putting the car seats in... They touched the doors both sides and you couldn't access the belts, the clasps at least, to use them. Like I said, just putting the info out there.
  12. Hello, Thanks for the comments. Yes, our last 110 only had lap belts in the centre, it was a 200 Tdi. The one we're looking at is a Puma with proper 3-point belts. The kids all have Sparco seats which are very high spec. I always used Sparco seats and clothing when I was racing, so was very happy to use the child seats. If I can get a day off, I'll actually go to the dealer and see if they fit... Cheers.
  13. Hello everyone, Wondering if anyone has experience of putting child seats in the second row of a 110? Specifically, I want to know if 3 will fit. You may or may not be aware that the law changed regarding child seats a while back and you now have much wider full seats providing side protection for a longer period. I'm in the wonderful (!) position of having 3 of them. Currently we're running a T6 Caravelle which has 7 full-size seats, so no problems. We're thinking of getting another 110 though, so doing some research before finding one at a dealer who'll let us try and fit our seats in... As always, any information gratefully received.👍
  14. Yes, I'd like to do a galv on mine and once an engine rebuild is done, definitely be a keeper. Can't believe how good it is to drive, ACE is a revelation. On the EGR front, I cleaned mine with regular degreaser and then carb cleaner. Reassembled using Rocol non-silicone wet film lubricant until it beds back in to stop it binding. I've driven them blanked and unblanked and if they're working properly I don't think there's very much difference, more psychological than anything, bit like how we were all convinced our Mk2 Escorts gained 20bhp once we put a cherry bomb on...
  15. Yes, sadly you're correct Simon. One of the reasons I could afford her was that I needed to weld the rear chassis leg and both inner front footwells.
  16. Will do. Thanks very much. I'd put stripping and cleaning the EGR valves on the list of 'to do' jobs already.
  17. Hello everyone, Just wanted to share with the group (!) we've bought a new truck. My 7th Disco, but my first Series 2 model. What I want to know is; is there anything specific to the Td5 that I need to pay attention to? As a 'seasoned' Land Rover sufferer, most is familiar, and let's be honest a chassis is a chassis is a chassis, axles are axles etc etc. The fly-by-wire, electronic gizmos and especially the Td5 engine are all new to me though. I'm a bit apprehensive interferring with that side of things, but only because of a lack of familiarty. Any advice for good areas to check for pre-emptive fault finding, symptoms and signs to watch out for and of course general pointers all very much appreciated. If anyone has done any mods that made their Td5 go better or improved mpg, then please let me know about those too. Cheers
  18. No, it's quite cheap. For example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5L-Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone-99-7-ACS-MEK-2-Butanone-/130776166419?pt=UK_BOI_Medical_Lab_Equipment_Lab_Supplies_ET&hash=item1e72ddf013
  19. Yes, as is MEK. Lots of our parts at work are cleaned with MEK before going through deionising.
  20. We get our iso from ICI, and their reps are even less seen than 3M! We use it as the bonding chemical element in moulding bumpers and body panels.
  21. We bond ally (and plastics) at work with Plexus glue, same stuff used for gluing Elise chassis together. It's pretty much a heavy-duty araldite in simplistic terms. http://www.itwplexus.co.uk/index.php?/plexus/automotive/automotive/
  22. I shall be attacking it on sunday after work. Saw new ones on eBay ranging from £11 through £80 for Britpart to £200+ for genuine. Seems quite a hefty variation in price, and I'm guessing quality, so I'll stick to refurbishing mine I think!
  23. The top part of a 3-point seatbelt stops you tipping forward in an accident, so would have no benefit at all to a side-facing seat. Perhaps you could look into fitting Defender-style forward facing fold-up ones in their place?
