  1. Thanks, will give those my attention this weekend after work.
  2. Oh, by the way, by 'intermittent', I mean it can range from once a fortnight to three times a day. She runs beautifully, no hesitation or stuttering, just effortless smooth power and can really pick her skirts up when need be. My MOT man even commented she's the nicest sounding V8 he's heard in years. You can see why it's frustrating, especially as our RRC isn't on the road, so she's our sole vehicle.
  3. Morning All, Our Disco is near perfect, but has developed an annoying, and potentially dangerous, fault. When braking to a halt or on a trailing throttle at tickover rpm (eg, low speed coasting slowing down) she will cut out. As it's an auto, that means selecting 'N' and restarting, all whilst trying to manhandle a Disco now devoid of power steering and brakes... inevitably whilst turning into a junction, it's not much fun. When it happens to the wife, with the kids on board, I have to hear about it a lot. She's in fantastic condition (the Disco, not the wife) only 93k miles from new with relatively new leads and plugs. As she's one of the rare Discos that came without the factory fitted rusty sills and rear floor, I'm keen to keep her A1. Maybe it's this RTS sensor I keep hearing about? Must be ignition related somehow. Thanks for any enlightenment you can give or if any additional info is needed, just ask.
  4. He's right you know. Stalk = fixed. Now that I've got a Tdi RRC myself, I still want to find a decent wiring diagram though...
  5. Mine will be camo by then, or sold...
  6. Hmm, not much 'blue' to it Geoff, so maybe you're right and it's Ardennes.
  7. Erm, sort of neither! It's had a few dabs from a touch-up pen, as the spots of non-matching paint give away. As for its use, it spent the vast majority of its life on an estate working as horsebox mover and shooting brake. Where it's rusty, it really IS rusty, but otherwise it's pretty good. Hopefully once it's up and running I can keep it on the road for a good few years.
  8. Cheers mate. How's Zeus and the kids?
  9. I believe it's Cypress Green, if I understand the paint code correctly. There's a bit of welding to do, and I know the slow, depressing nature of a Tdi will grate on me from time but on the whole it should be good. I think its arrival means I'm going to have to sell my Mini though because we just can't have so many ongoing projects!
  10. Yes, and yes. lol, luckily she's nearly as much of a Landy person as me, and she does love her RRCs.
  11. ... and apologies for the poor (and single) photo, but it was p*ssing it down!
  12. Here he is. Few jobs to do; callipers are all seized, power steering doesn't work and rear crossmember needs welding. Callipers will have new seals and I'll put stainless pistons in whilst I'm at it, power steering I'm hoping is just belt tension because I also have an alternator light on. Rear crossmember is a bit more involved, but I can fold my own repair panel at work and weld it in when the weather improves. Oh, and the missus loves it! :D
  13. Bought another Rangey, just paid for it. Photos to follow when I've picked it up. Excited. Had to share!
  14. Do you mean the main lights on/off switch on the left cowl of the steering column?
  15. It's not a softdash matey, it's the last of the 'normal' ones.
  16. Yes, they seem ok. Neither headlamp works on normal dip or main but both work when 'flashed'. I'm hunting online for a proper circuit diagram to (hopefully) give me a fighting chance...
  17. Hi Everyone, Went to see a friend of mine this morning and whilst I was there was asked to look at the headlights on his wife's Classic Tdi. One the way home the other day, her headlamps went off. Fog lights still work, sidelights still work, illuminated dash, main beam flash works, but no dip/main. Naturally I checked the fuses, all ok. Found some evidence of melting around the multiplug that goes into the main bean stalk switch, but only on one pin and not enough to mark or distort the terminal, only the plastic, and not enought to affect it easily locating. No headlamp relay on this model it seems, only a weird 'headlamp module' which is one of those lumps of mirrors and mystery that confounds a luddite and lover of clockwork simplicity such as myself... So, any suggestions?
  18. I'll admit, I haven't thought of that. Bet it would be cheaper to get a newer one from eBay though, and would be 'better'.
  19. or this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DISCOVERY-2-RADIO-CD-CONTROLLER-ALPINE-XQD000340LNF-NEW-/230842271806?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item35bf45883e If it affects things, my '94 Disco has the Harmann Kardon speaker system, sub in the back door and cd changer under the front seat.
  20. Want to replace the head unit on my truck because it's not working on the right-hand channel and the tape player is busted. I also want to keep it standard so that all of my lovely steering wheel and dash controls continue to work. Natural, being on a budget, I can't afford to get something that wont be compatible, so... Anyone know if this slightly later variant will work? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35bfca48c1 He doesn't list early Discos in the compatibility bit, but I think that's because it wasn't factory fit rather than it being incompatible. We all know L/R used the same connectors/switches/old tat for years, so hopefully that will work to my advantage. Any ideas? Thanks.
  21. Hi everyone, Does anyone know if a stereo head unit from a later Disco or even a Freeloader would be compatible with the steering wheel controls and underseat CD changer in my Disco? My head unit has all but packed up; right channel is u/s, tape player u/s... I want to keep all of the remote controls working and would like very much to keep it Land Rover. I could easily chuck another head unit in, but that's not what I'm after. Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
  22. Thanks chaps. I'm going to attack it this afternoon and try and make it all better.
  23. lol, either way, it can't be legit for tax-exempt status when it hasn't even been inspected!
