  1. if you think your landy is running as it should and if this has come all of a sudden is it something simple like a slow puncture ?
  2. just a word of warning if your going to use petrol to flush out your intercooler you must be totaly sure all the petrol vapours have been removed as you can destroy your injectors if the petrol ignites in the tips. paraffin would be a better option to use as its not as volatile as petrol and will still clean out all the gunk
  3. if your changing the fuel filter i assume your filling the filter with diesel first as theres less air being sucked into the fuel system. then turm the ignition on and let the pump purge the remaing air out and it should start first time, works for me ok
  4. 02jcole a sealed tip k type thermocouple will be the one to go for, the guage will take a reading 4 times a second and i have mine set so the alarm light comes on at 700.c so if i get close to this temp i just lift off a little.
  5. i have an auber one fitted £20 posted from the usa, its very good, there are instructions on the web where you can set it up how you like it and its easy to do. you will need a sealed k type thermocouple. Once fitted i found mine to be very accurate and well worth the money
  6. i fitted the spal kit to my td5 90 2 years ago and they have worked perfectly all the time,a very easy fit no problems at all
  7. my hardtop is a comercial on the logbook but "sureterm direct" insured it no problem fully comp £230
  8. when i got my satnav i checked my speedo against it. Satnav reads 30mph speedo says 32mph,a bit faster satnav says 60mph speedo says 64mph took it up to 90mph and the speedo said 97mph
  9. i had a straight through exhaust sounded great but noticed the fuel consumtion was poor maybe it was cos of me enjoying it. BUT i did notice cos of no back presure in the system the turbo could over spool this could wear out the turbo bearings ! makes you think.so now i have a straight through scilencer on it just to save the turbo, still sounds great though. Best advice is go for a good remap, mines 200bhp and 400ft/lbs of tourqe and still bet 30 mpg if kept at leagal speeds Give gary at td5 alive a call he will tell you all you need to know
  10. a good thing to use to clean out inside the chassi is a peice of brake pipe with a union fitted. you can fasten it to a hose to wash out the mud. Then an air line to dry out the water. Then you can use it to put waxoil back in the chassi rails
  11. i got mine from a company called sempal. had them fitted for two years now and no problems at all. easy to fit and work perfectly.
  12. think about this logicaly oil gets into the injector wireing and by capilary action gets through the wires to the ecu plug, this is where the oil upsets the voltage to the ecu causing misfires. the soultion is to replace the injector harness and clean out the ecu plug of all oil, job sorted and it will run properly. BUT there is still oil in the main wireing loom and it can take many months for capilary action to suck all the remaining oil out of the loom. so its replace the main wireing loom or just keep cleaning out the ecu plug till the oil stops coming through the wires and this can take several thosands of miles depending on how long it was before you changed the injector loom.
  13. http://myworld.ebay.com/wwwauberinscom/ i bought a egt guage off this chap and it works just fine, it was cheeper when i got it as the exchange rate was @ 2$ to the £ . you can get a stainless steel thermocoulpe to suit for about £12.
