  1. Hi Guys, I solved the problem! Turns out my freebee was overboosting due to the boost control solenoid was faulty. replaced it and it is running like a dream again.
  2. Update on the issues : The brakes has finally been sorted out, after the 3rd set of diffrent pads, no more grinding and sqeeking! (ironic that the ones that works best is the cheapest). the rattle was the caliper guide pins that is worn, havent been able to source new ones but if you keep the old ones greased up, they stay quiet for a while. the shudder under acceleration was due to a really badly worn left inner cv joint. replaced it and the shudder was gone. hope this helps anyone that also struggles with the above problems
  3. Good day guys, My 2006 FL 1 td4 has developed a strange noise allmost like a Blow off valve when switching gears or letting off the gass under boost. Also when cruising on the highway, as soon as you go over 130km/h or up a hill at about 120km/h it goes into limp mode with the CEL on, but as soon as speed drops, it goes out of limp and the CEL goes off. I do not know if this is related to each other, and I dont have the cash at the moment to take it to the stealers to look for fault codes. I have replaced all the vacuum hoses, and from what I can see, the egr valve is clean. car has been serviced and all filters changed(originally though the limp was due to a blocked filter). I am going on a road trip on friday, so I urgently need to get this sorted out, as driving mountain passes with a car that keeps going into limp is no fun at all. If anyone has had simular problems or knows where I can look, please give me advice! thank you in advance guys!
  4. A quick update, grinding noise is sorted, it seems that there was a bad connetion to the brake assist servo, the car brakes lovely now witout the grinding noise and you do not have to stand on the pedal in emergencies to get it to brake anymore. as for the rattle, it is back, allthough much less prominent and not as loud anymore. the vibration/bouncing/shaking is still going on under acceleration, and as soon as you let go of the throttle, it dissapears, so I am still looking for help on that one if anyone knows what there is for me to look at.
  5. Thank you for your reply guys, I seem to have sorted out the rattle, I suspect that it was the pad guide shims that was not put back properly. The Grinding Noise still shows up now and then, but I have put that on the brand of pads, it seems to be a very hard pad, so I have decided to drive it like that untill replacement is neccesary, then replace them with genuine landrover parts. Tim, I have also suspected the shock absorber, but I don't know if it will cause bouncing only under acceleration and go away throughout the day. I have checked the cv joints this weekend, there seems to be a little bit of play on the left inner cv, might be that. Either way, I will have the shock absorbers tested today as well. have a good day!
  6. Hi Guys, I bought my first freelander a while ago, a 2006 freelander 1 td4 hse auto. I have a few issues and I do not know if it is related to each other or what is causing it. first issue: When i accelerate, from about 100km/h up to 135km/h the car feels like it is almost bouncing at the front( feels like left side). this goes away and comes back throughout the day. second issue: When I brake hard or when braking from about 35km/h there is a grinding noise at the left side front brake. new pads, skimmed discs, this also comes and goes, as well as a very very annoying ratlle on the left front that goes away when braking. please guys, I am a resonably skilled mechanic, but I have no idea what could cause this and no experience with land rovers. thank you!
