  1. Thanks Steve. Do you think that might be the 4 nuts which hold the prop shaft on the flange? Cheers David
  2. Hi Steve, yeah it is the front diff. Do you know what the torque should be on the font diff castle nut? cheers david
  3. Yes I did the same. I changed the oil seal on my front diff (110). The flange was rattling around when I took off the prop shaft. I removed the castle nut, and flange, replaced oil seal then refitted flange and tightened nut up by hand til the flange felt light it wasn't loose. Oil seal still leaks and breather pipe is clear. Me thinks I might need to tighten the castle nut up but not sure how tight to do it?? anyone know? I've read through the thread and it's looking like 130Nm but wanted to check. Cheers DAvid
  4. Hi, Just in the process of rebuilding my 110 CSW onto a nice new galv chassis. Got to the read back side doors and they are slightly rotten. I have bought the replacment door frame sections from YRM. A few questions you might be able to help with: 1) can I weld the frame with the ali skin still attached (providing i get it out of the way of where I am welding). Will the heat through the frame affect the ali? 2) how do i get the glass out? it's 1986 so the rear window is split into two - one sliding one quarter light I'm nearly there now, at the end of what has been a very long and wet rebuild! thanks in advance.
  5. Cheers guys. cutting it off with the brake pedal is a great idea. I'm on with it now. Not planning on doing this on public land. main use would be warming her up on the drive then when i'm working in my field. Mrs Vodester is a peeler so she'd be right on to that!!! may well be posting soon for help starting it when I've fudged this up! Thanks again!
  6. Hi, I want to be able to start my 200tdi defender with the key (don't we all!), press a switch, which then allows me to remove the key without the enjoy turning off. I want to do this so I can leave it running while I work but be able to lock the doors and let the steering lock come on. I think all I need to do is put a permanent power to the fuel cut off solenoid or switch the ignition so all the key does is turn the starter motor. I know this is done in police land rovers. Anyone know what the best way to do this is? I need to consider my insurance as well. Thanks in advance.
