  1. You say EP9.5 but isn't the Superwinch EP9.0? If so this might help. http://www.expeditionexchange.com/superwinch/epmanual.pdf
  2. If its for a 110 front axle then its should be bolt on. The small plate fits on the top diff studs, remove the nuts and fit the plate loosely, fit the main diff protector as you described then tighten everything up. The link you showed looks like a Disco 11 diff guard which as q-rover states needs the tabs welded on. HTH
  3. http://www.rock-sliders.co.uk/landrover-defender-110-rock-tree-sliders.htm This might be of interest, no idea if they are any good though.
  4. Mine comes on just in to the orange band which is normally about 290ish miles. it will then take about 50 lts to fill. I did manage 350 miles on a tank with a wee bit still to spare one Sunday evening when all the garages were shut. I normally carry a spare can now! 2005 90 TD5
  5. Some info here at Expedition Exchange but its a US site, scroll down the page for more info. Devon 4x4 are one UK supplier
  6. I have to say I agree, especially on dipped headlights! I appreciate from your earlier posts you are against this but without a good current flow and good earth you are pissing in the wind (this is coming from an electrical troglodyte ) but also from my experience
  7. ARB do a nice plug and play wiring upgrade (ARBMOO2) or run your own. I found this along with halfords upgraded bulbs made a big difference in my TD5, especially on dipped. I did have expensive IPF bulbs but found they did not last, replaced them with the halfords red box ones and happy days, especially with a trade card or 2 for one. just upgrading your wiring will help on an older vehicle.
  8. Sound interesting Neill, let us know how you get on. I was thinking of trying Dinitrol next time. Seems like good value.
  9. Funny you should say that, I picked up a load of work a few years ago rebuilding an As356 Dauphin that hit a bridge whilst on the back of a lorry, nice to see it flying around now
  10. Hi Phil, I have P&P roll cage/hoops in both my Defenders and am a big fan. Very well made and really easy to fit. I will be back in Glasgow mid oct if you want a look. Interesting build by the way! Nice. KevB
  11. We went RoRo Southampton to California, again happy to recomend using Kinstone (thanks to V8 Bertha). If going RoRo your vehicle must be empty or they may not accept it. We bought cheap camping gear over there and flew in with as much of our personal stuff as we could carry. Here is some information on shipping your vehicle or trips in general to the USA. Wallenius Wilhelmsen Test Lane Southampton call Tony Wite 02380715223 to book your vehicle RoRo from Southampton to Port Huename, Ventura. Just above LA. California. We paid about £1100 outward trip, East Coast is cheaper. You will need to contact US Customs and the Enviromental Protection Agency beforehand. you must have a letter from the EPA allowing you a temporary import. You can have it in the US for up to one year but it must leave the country when you do. (we had originally hoped to store it and return) To book your passage back in the UK it is cheaper the USA end. use Ted Rausch co Phone 5624358231 Fax 5624377585 ask for Amando or Tanya. Port Hueneme California is the best for Nevada , Arizona , Utah. We flew in to Las vegas and got a one way hire to Oxnard Airport, stay at the Country Inn , Happy Hour and Pool , but book well in advance as used by Military Officers Phone 8059865353 . From here it is a 5 minute walk to the Customs , Agent and Docks. Only one Customs Officer so phone in advance for appointment to clear your vehicle . 8054888574 You will also need the agent to have Agriculture Dept. Clear for dirt ( very strict )Arrange Steam cleaning with UK agent at Docks before shipping. It took me half an hour to clear customs and be on my way. Return shipping can only go from Long Beach nr Queen Mary. Once in the US there is an abundance of fun and off road trals to be had, wild camping, reasonable hotels,mtels. Eating out is cheap and good quality. In short there is something for everyone here. I would recommend Moab in Utah, Northern Arizona is also stunning and the Rubicon and Dusy Ershim trails in Northern California is another option. Hope some of this helps :-)
  12. That looks like a really handy bit of kit Soren, nice, simple job. I was thinking of doing something along the lines of and Arctic Trucks type of crane using the winch can be seen in use here moving fuel drums at about 1 min 30 in ;

  14. Congratulations Daan & Dan All the best. Lara, you need a bigger spoon for all that stirring
  15. This may or may not help Si, unfortunately I am no where near my Defender at the mo

  17. not for an event as such, just a long range camping trip I managed to get out again last year to do the Dusy Ershim Pic below of BBs 90 with 285s so back on topic me cacking myself while BB looks on laughing! This was about 5 years ago on pre production KM2s that BB was trialing for BFG. The tread blocks have changed on production tyres (or tires!) in that they have been rotated slightly to give better lateral stability.
  18. All 3 are on 285s, my Bonati Grey one is stock (R-yellow/white,F-blue/green I think & with anti roll bars) and rubs a wee bit on full articulation, you can pretty much see where on the photo and it sounds worse than it is. Both the green 90s have a 2" (ish) OME lift. I run a disco transfer box on my green one too (TD5 has been tweeked a wee bit but not too much ).It drives really well on the a roads and tops out just above 80 on the autobahn but sometimes struggles to maintain 70 on hilly motorways. At the time I couldnt get 255s anywhere, Mr Craddock told me "they dont make em that size" Eh, yes they do... "Oh do they?" SteveG did an excellent thread on his suspension set up which is well worth a search if you havnt read it. Dont know why they look smaller on the NAS, definately 285s.... see
  19. Cooper STs on mine (the green one ) BFG MTs on the NAS (the green one ) First fitting on modulars. Standard 90 suspension.
  20. To import a vehicle in to the USA and register it on the road it must be at least 25 years old or more, I belive it is possible to register newer vehicles as agricultural with limited use but have no experience of this. Some 90s and 110s are registered as older series vehicles. Others are simply "looking after" the vehicle for a non US citizen. I am not advocating any of this just telling you how others have done it. The EPA and US Customs are getting pretty hot on dodgy dealings. We shipped a UK registered 90 TD5 from Southampton to California as a temporary import, here is some information on shipping your vehicle or trips in general to the USA. We decided to go RoRo as it was much cheaper but the vehicle must be empty other than spare wheel, jack etc. No personal gear. Wallenius Wilhelmsen Test Lane Southampton call Tony Wite 02380715223 to book your vehicle RoRo from Southampton to Port Huename, Ventura. Just above LA. California. 21. Its not about putting the Landie in a container, they are not interested in the Landie. The way this works, as has been said above, is I agree a price and the nice man with the dodgy western union or whatever chequebook sends me a check for my money plus shipping fees. I bank his dodgy check and funds will show in my account. Thinking the funds have cleared I then forward 2K to the "shipping agent". As soon as I have done this the original cheque I deposited is either cancelled (I believe Western Union type cheques can be cancelled 28 days after depositing, even though funds show as cleared) or is found to be stolen, fraudulent etc and the bank cancels it. My 2 grand transaction has already gone and there is not a thing I can do about it. Nae luck! I thought everyone must be aware of this scam by now but then they are still doing it so some poor bazza's must still be getting caught out. That's why I posted. If you feel inclined you can have some fun with these low lifes here or here
