  1. Thankyou very much you have been very helpfull indeed.my plan is to put p38 axles under my jeep cherokee.landrover moving the front diff to the opposite side means less fabrication of the donor axles. the drive/coast question is to determine which way the pinion turns to get forward motion clockwise/anticlockwise.with the crown wheel being on the right side it will mean that the pinion turning anticlockwise will produce forward drive, which is also a result.... the weight and size is perfect for my plan and the axles will have to be upgraded to accomodate large wheels by changing the ratios etc. the plan is to do a four link setup on the front and to copy that to the rear. the p38 uses trailing arms and a panhard rod at the rear ?? many thanks mike
  2. hello guys i am desperatly in need to clarify a few things before i start my new projest. i know the p38 axles have the diff housing moved to the opposite side on the front. do the diffs still drive/coast in the same directions ?? am i correct in believing they have a combination of 4 and 2 pin carriers are they really 4.10 diff ratio all help appreciated mike
  3. i keep 33s for the road and use 36s offroad. it also helps to keep your simex tread sharp. mike
  4. Flexi flares http://www.pacerperformance.com/pages/products.asp?id=2 http://www.roccia.co.uk/acatalog/Universal__flares.html we only sell it in 3 inch You have the option of inserting steel into the rubber but to be honest its not needed mike
  5. i try to keep mine clean,,but it often looks like this
  6. just done my rear diff take off the front prop at the diff end.if you can move the flange in a side to side or up and down, then your pinion bearing is shot. i resolved this by getting a s/h diff and rebuilt my locker into that. good luck mike
  7. posted this on another forum and posted here for your comments please can you help hi i took off my rear prop today to get the ujs changed.to my horror the flange had a lot of play.i tried to tighten the pinion nit but it was already set at 130nm.so i proceeded to strip down and remove the flange, outer seal and bearing.the bearing is knackered. i took out the halfshafts so i could try to gauge whether or not the bearing on the other side is ok.it does feel ok if i buy a new bearing and a new shim (the same thickness as the one ive taken out)and refit all is there chance that all will be ok? or should i take the diff completly out and have both inner and outer bearings changed by a professional? mike
  8. or fit some extra spacers make it bigger mike
  9. probably looks a bit like mk 1 disco with 36x12.5x15 simex et 2 they do fit you see mike
  10. hi dave the first difference i found with simex is that you can drive slower than you used to.and on the road you will have no choice but to drive slower.there is a world of difference between these and other tyres.i run mine at 20 psi off road and the traction is excellent. i got my 36s and made them fit(on a disco) 2 of my friends run them, but they are on 15 inch modulars with-22mm offset go on spoil yourself cant wait to see that vid mike
