  1. i have given the wheels a shake- did notice any excessive play- i will have to whip the wheeloff and check to be 100%!
  2. Really strange noise has developed on the 03 plate 90 td5- when taking a left hand bend at anything over around 20mph- there is a metallic grinding noise! i think its coming from the rear but very hard to tell- when going straight/right hand bends all is normal- it also only does theis when moving at a reasonable speed ie 20mph plus. I put new cv joints in the front about 6 weeks ago but cant imagine this is causing the issue as it would surely make the noise at slow speed? Can anyone point me in the best place to start investigations?
  3. Going to order some main bearing shells was thinking from turners- does anyone have any advise on this job- never done it before- i have a knock who9ch im not happy with so as im stripping bits off i may as well replace with new! Whilst i have the sumpoff i will check the oil pump bolt - anything else to check/replace? Thanks in advance

  7. britpart supply decent swivel housing grease....which now come with little tubes to insert into swivel housing- a marked improvement! cant think of anything else mind!
  8. camskill are very good- have used them a number of times in the past! Go for the 235 85's, or 265's, those 70's look too small!
  9. My 2003 defender td5 has become really "tappy", only when the throttle is applied. On over run/idle it sounds sweet- very quiet, as soon as the throttle is pressed (tinyest amount) it taps. I have changed the injector seals/washer s but no difference! its becoming really annoying hear it most at low revs, seems to dissapear as revs rise (prob as drowned out!) Can anyone advise?
  10. ohhhh noo....not good! that sounds like a pig to sort out! new loom?
  11. on the front window of my previous and current 90, the little black window guide half way up the window (prevents the window travelling too far out) has broken off. Anyone know the part number/name for these?

  13. Have a noisey cv joint on the near side front of our 03 td5 90 (no abs)- firstly are the joitns the same os the 300's? 2ndly can anyone recommend where to purchase a new joint from? Thanks in advance!

  15. ideal- will aim to re use the gasket then! dont havea slide hammer so will attempt to use small pry bar instead!
  16. carlos, the seals and washers (genuine landrover) work out to be about £24 over here in the uk. As far as i can tell the only other item which may be required is a new rocker cover gasket.
  17. its good of the poilce to write to people...just a shame that we have to be so weary of our property!

  20. hi all, having plugged in my newly purchased hawkeye to the td5- it ionformed me that the ecu thought the truck was in low when in high and visa versa. I have pulled the plug from the switch and bridged it with wire to trick it to think its in high all the time- this has vastly improved the drive of the truck! Does anyone know how to doa permanent fix to this rather than the piece of wire? Thanks in advance!
  21. certainly sounds like a ground issue- not much help, sorry- have you checked the ground terminal by the ecu?
  22. anybody know the p/number for the wiring loom in the post 02 (td5) rear doors, namely the wiper motor wiring etc?
  23. ok, thanks for comments- will try and look into it a bit further over the weekend!
